It's that happy time of the year again: Giveaway Week at Sew Mama Sew--go check it out...I'll wait! But do come back, won't you please?
THE GIVEAWAY: I'm giving away a piece of vintage upholstery fabric--like printed burlap--that's been sewn on three sides (pillow cover?); 2 vintage apron patterns (the Simplicity is uncut, size medium; the McCall's is missing 2 pieces [pocket and shoulder strap], but transfer is there and I'm sure YOU can replace those missing pieces!); some vintage buttons; some trim; and an Aunt Martha's transfer of "Vegetables for the Kitchen." I'll try to throw in some other vintage sewing goodies, too. Giveaway is open to everyone!
THE BLOG: This blog is not really a crafting blog--though I DO sew, embroider, and knit--it's more just little snippets of my life, but I hope you'll have a look around. Every Friday is Tallulah-Palooza Friday, pictures of my oh-so-adorable dog, Tallulah Mae.
THE SHOPS: Also, I do have two Etsy shops--see over there on the right?--Sew Betty and Dot is all vintage sewing patterns, fabrics, etc., while Betty and Dot is general vintage whatnottery!
THE PATTERN TEAM: I'm a member of a super-cool pattern team on Etsy, the Pattern Patter team, and I invite you to check out the team blog and the team Pinterest board.
THE QUESTIONS (SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ANSWER THEM): Let's choose a fashion icon from each decade of the twentieth century--because I'm lazy, I'm using Wiles Magazine's picks (go here to see the slideshow):
1910s: Gabrielle Dorziat (I know, I didn't know about her, either--she championed Coco Chanel, apparently)
1920s: Louise Brooks
1930s: Marlene Dietrich
1940s: Veronica Lake
1950s: Audrey Hepburn (I think of her more in the 1960s, but hey)
1960s: Jackie Kennedy (but let's add Twiggy in there to embrace the Swingin' part of the Sixties!)
1970s: Pam Grier
1980s: Madonna
I'm stopping here--I just CAN'T with the nineties!
Question 1: whose style do you love the most?
Question 2: who would you most like to hang out with?
If you just want to say "Pick me!" that's fine too! I know there are hundreds of blogs to visit...I'll use ye olde Random Number Generator to pick one winner.
Whew, that's it! Thanks for stopping by!
I'd like to hang out with Jackie from the 60s. I'd like to see the world how my parents saw it growing up.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely combo of prizes - the patterns are cute. Princess Margaret had an amazing wardrobe, and I hear she liked a drink so she'd have been great to hang out with too! Thanks
ReplyDeleteI'm also a Jackie-O fan, but I'm also a Twiggy fan in terms of style. As for who I'd like to hang out with? I'd like to hang out with Marlene Dietrich because I think she's the bees knees, plus I can practice my German.
ReplyDeleteI'm good with Audrey... So stylish and effortless.
ReplyDeleteI would love to hand out with Marlene D.
ReplyDeleteAudrey Hepburn for both classic style and such an amazing person!
ReplyDeleteI love audrey hepburn's style the most, and she is the one I would want to "hang out with".

Audrey Hepburn
ReplyDeleteWell, I think Jackie is the one I most identify with style wise, but as far as to hang out with, I think Madonna would have been a blast in the 80s. Like from the Desperately Seeking Susan era.
ReplyDeleteI like Audrey Hepburn's simple style. :)
ReplyDeleteAudrey Hepburn - such grace and beauty.
ReplyDeleteDietrich always looks so amazing
ReplyDeletefun pintrest board! I started following it. How about Lady Di as a fashion icon for the 1990ies?
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWell, Heburn's style is very simple yet classic and I like that. But I think I would hang out with Veronica Lake. I have no idea why, she just looks intrigueing (not sure I spelled that right).
ReplyDeleteAudrey, for style and confidence.Maybe she could give me some pointers, lol!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely giveaway!
ReplyDeleteLOVE those patterns!
Audrey Hepburn for me, for both questions.
She was supposed to be as beautiful inside and out and as for style...she had that to spare.
Thanks so much for the lovely giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMarlene. 30's. Nuff said! x

This is such a good question! I'd definitely be hanging out with Marlene Dietrich and getting some style inspiration at the same time.
ReplyDeleteAny and all of those ladies up through Jackie-O I'd be honored to lunch or sip a cocktail with. ;) Each has such a phenomenal, unique style.

ReplyDeleteI love Audrey Hepburn! Her style is so lovely and feminine!
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for Audrey Hepburn!
ReplyDeleteOooh yes! So I find Marlene Dietrich sexy as all get out, but whenever I try to copy her, I just look like a man... meh. Perhaps Audrey's 1950s style, then. And I don't know all of the people, but from what I've read, Audrey was also a lovely person to be around, so I'll go with her again there!
ReplyDeleteAudrey Hepburn, hands down. Not only beautiful on the outside, but more importantly, beautiful inside as well. I admire the work she did for UNICEF and other charities.
ReplyDeleteAudrey Hepburn, her style is timeless!
ReplyDeleteLove your vintage patterns! I would like to sew clothes like Marlene Dietrich, but meet up and chat with Jackie Kennedy.
ReplyDeleteI´d like no doubt hanging out with Marlene and follow Veronica´s style. I like to mix opposites :-). Thank you so much for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love Pam Grier's style. A big fan of the 70's!

I would pick Audrey Hepburn. I always thought she looked classically beautiful. I also don't know much about her personal life so it would be really interesting to talk with her.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely Jackie Kennedy for her style and just to hang out with. Fun question! I'm really looking forward to winning the patterns.
ReplyDeleteI am an Audrey Hepburn girl to the bone. I would love to have hung out with her and I would love to have the stunning figure and her amazing wardrobe too.
ReplyDeleteAudrey! I named my daughter after her.
