Vintage-y Printage-y
Check out these pretties (wrinkles and all, ha!) purchased at an estate sale a while back: one had its original tag--99 cents! They're all polished cotton, made in Japan. Love!

Charlotte and Her Web
I find spiders utterly fascinating...as long as they are not in my house or weaving webs that I have to walk through. And they're really beneficial out in the garden.
This is some kind of orb weaver...(don't click on that link if you're arachnophobic---BIG pix of spiders!).
We had a bunch of these out in our lavender plants a few years ago, and since we didn't particularly want them there, we caught them in a jar and let them go in a canyon down the block. This one is not in my yard...she was hanging off of a tree in a neighbor's yard.

Yumtino and Warm Yumtable Yumalad with Yumple Pie
A silly title for a delicious meal: mushroom tortino and a warm vegetable salad, topped off by homemade apple pie. Oh yeah, baby! Get in (and now, on) my belly!
(A tortino is rather like a frittata, but it generally has some milk and/or flour added.) And, I have no idea why this text is hot...oh, I see, it takes you to a ginormous photo of the pie. Thanks, Blogger!)

Smooch!
Doesn't this flower look like it's all puckered up for a kiss? (I also, of course, must think of Little Shop of Horrors! "Feed Me!")

Tallulah-Palooza Friday
Here is Tallulah Mae sporting a slightly askew bindi--hers is made of coffee, and it's actually sitting somewhere in between her sixth and seventh chakras. (I think that's also coffee on the bridge of her snout. This is what happens when you let your dog stick her head in the dishwasher.)

Etsy Mania
I've been working really hard to make my Etsy shop, Betty and Dot, a going concern. Today, for the first time, I made it into a Treasury (things selected by a member around a theme)--Football! Pretty fun...
And for My Next Trick (Said the Magician)...
"I need a few volunteers from the audience," said the Great Doggini, who was wearing a marvelous cape with dog bones all over it. Tallulah Mae wasn't too sure...Stanley eagerly raised his paw and jumped up on stage: he had volunteered to be "cut in two" by the magician. Tallulah Mae held the star-spangled curtain as the magic wand was waved. Abracadabra! {Gasps from the crowd! Look at Stanley! He's appears to be in two pieces!
Then: "Shazam!" bellowed the magician, and Stanley appeared, good as new and in one sweet tail-wagging piece. Yay, Stanley {clap clap clap}.

Snakes on a (Bleep)ing Walk
Look out, Tallulah Mae...what is that over there in the foliage?!!!
SNAKE!!!!
Um, snake? Where did you come from?
It was clearly trying to hide from us...I took Miss Mae home and drove back to see if it was still there--if it had been, I was going to call Animal Control to come and rescue it (poor thing!). I knocked on the door of the house whose sidewalk this is to see if it was an escaped pet, but no one answered the door. I can't figure out what kind of snake it is--any herpetologists out there? It was quite beautiful...in between the black markings is a sort of rusty-red mark, and it was more creamy colored than these (taken with one hand, trying to keep the dog well clear) photos might indicate. I hope Mr. Snake found his way home safely!
That's a reference to Samuel L. Jackson and Snakes on a Plane up there in the title...I love to quote him, even when it's not appropriate! I won't do it here, though...this is a family-friendly blog!

Guess What We Made with Overripe Fruit?
An absolutely de-lay-shus plum, apple, and blueberry fruit crisp! So good...I'm actually more of a chocolate or custard or creme brulee gal, but even I had to go back into the kitchen for another spoonful. It cries out for whipped cream or vanilla ice cream...
P.S. Please excuse a) the gnarly baking sheet underneath it; its sole purpose in life is to be put under things that might boil over, and b) the dirty stove top. I spy with my little eye: olive oil!

Guess What Song I Was Singing Here?
This one: "...workin' at the car wash, girl. Come on and sing it with me (car wash). Sing it with feelin', y'all..."
