Boy and Girl

 The orioles are still around...so hard to capture them as they are VERY skittish. Here's the boy on the telephone wire.

 So happy to have captured these girls in flight...the second one did give up and let the first one enjoy the flower (melaleuca).

Babies

 OMG, y'all, the babies have landed! Two or three days ago we heard tiny little peeping/cheeping sounds, and sure enough, dad and/or mom has been VERY busy feeding these ravenous things.

Amazing to watch the parent bird(s)...they come to feed the babies at least every 5 minutes or so. It must be quite exhausting!

Sunset Drawering

Doesn't this look like how a kid would draw a sunset? Love it!

Science

I made Mason jar ice cream...a fun little experiment that tastes more like what it is (shaken and frozen whipped cream) than "real" ice cream. Still, kinda cool and seems like a worthwhile thing for kids to try.

Rescute

 Yesterday was National Rescue Dog Day, so these pix should have been posted last night. No words necessary, just: Tallulah Mae. We miss her so very much.

Persist

I do find it somehow poignant that plants/weeds will grow wherever they can...this is a hole in the middle of a street, which means cars are driving over it.

Egg or Tissue?

I will never stop marveling at these Matilija poppy flowers. They are sometimes called "fried egg flowers," but to me they look more like "crinkled tissue" or "crumpled Kleenex" flowers. So cool!

 Would you please look at this cuteness? This sweet (and large) dog was padding around a nursery where we went to order a new fountain for our feathered friends. So sweet, so mellow, so cute.

Hey, y'all, I sketched a bird! I'm ridiculously proud (leaving aside the horrible feet/legs--the online instructor didn't cover that, LOL). Super fun...our homework assignment is to sketch FIFTEEN birds this week...yikes!

 Happy Mother's Day! Here I am at my high school graduation with my two grandmothers and my mom (who is sporting some VERY cool 1980s glasses!).

 The fountain is currently out of order as the tubing needs replacing. In the interim, I put out some shallow dishes for the birds...and I'm happy to report that they are using them! Including our male oriole show-off...
