Written in Concrete

Awww...forever and ever!

(For the record, my B. didn't really write this in concrete...)

Pattern Ladies

The girl on the right is not at all sure what the one on the left is even doing right now...

The girl in the middle has a headache coming on, possibly caused by the actions of the bossy one at right.
They feel slightly bad that they've caused the one in yellow to go away...but only slightly.
These two are always the life of the party!
Trying casually to eavesdrop but can't quite hear what they are saying.
This crowd is very judgmental.
The lady on the right is not sure how to tell the one in green that she forgot to take her swimming cap off.

And Also Plus Two (Two Two Two Two)

If we'd driven yesterday, we would have hit 22,222 miles on 2/22/22! (But we didn't ... this was earlier today.) But still!

Palindromic Tuesday

Happy 2/22/22! (And it's a "TWOsday," too!)

Tiny

A ridiculously cute hummingbird enjoying the fountain all to him/herself this morning. The birds are just starting to come to the fountain in groups again; of course, we have bird visitors all year round, but usually one or two at a time.

Tiny House

How sweet is this birdhouse? It is in my friends' garden and is a replica of their house.

In the Boodwar

Ah, a "boudoir cap"... The image (which I love!) on this faded plastic bag from the 1960s looks a bit like a shower cap or something worn over your rollers at bedtime, but apparently "boudoir caps" were a thing all the way back into the 18th century? Who knew?

So SoCal

This is quintessential: one palm tree so tall that you can't see the top of it without craning your neck; a mid-mod apartment building; and that blue blue sky.

Pod Mail

A small art installation I found atop at mailbox (those are jacaranda seed pods in various states).

Happy Love Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! It also happens to be my wedding anniversary (yay! And 37 years, YAY!).

We kicked off the day this way...
Then we went to pick out a dessert for later. This was an option...
As were all of these (and many more)...
But I ended up choosing this.
While B. had this.

An indulgence, indeed, but hey! It's our anniversary (and Valentine's Day) up in here!

Moon, Bird

Sweet little hummingbird sitting on a eucalyptus branch in front of the moon...

Yerm

These called themselves "cardamom (donut-ish) tea cakes." I think the "donut" part is reflected in the sugary topping, while the end result of the "cake" is rather muffin like. They are quite tasty, whatever they are!

(And yes, that is a big divot in that one at right up there. The recipe said "pop them out of the muffin tin"--um, there was no "popping" involved, more like trying to use an offset spatula and them shaking them out of the tin. Popping, indeed!

Sweet

Making use of new gardening tools received from my mom for Christmas to plant sweet peas. Can't wait for their flowers!

Just a Sliver

(Two blog posts in one day since I didn't do one yesterday--oops!)

Picky

On Saturday, B. and I and a dear friend picked Satsuma tangerines with a group (50 or so) of volunteers for an organization called ProduceGood; they are "gleaners" whose volunteers work with farmers/farmers markets/etc. to recover any edible food that might otherwise go to waste. The food then goes to food banks and other organizations that help out folks who are struggling. It was a gloriously beautiful day, the farm was at the end of a scenic (though mighty curvy!) country road, and the tangerines were delicious. A perfectly lovely day!

And we had lunch afterward at Rainbow Oaks restaurant, which is a marvelously authentic place favored by bikers. Yummy food and BIG portions.

Done

I finished this cute embroidery piece that was part of a "stitchalong" on Instagram. Pretty cute, and some stitches I was not familiar with. I added the 3 little bees, which I think are pretty darn cute (if I do say so myself!).
