Happy Birthday

Today would have been my mom's 87th birthday...I hope she's looking down on us while enjoying a giant piece of birthday cake covered with pink frosting roses. We miss her every day...

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate... 

This stocking was made by my mom, who every Christmas Eve would embroider the year (the years continue onto the back). Some of the stitching is a bit wonky--she might have had a nip of Kahlua while she was embroidering (and to be fair, it is difficult to embroider down at the foot...). She made these for every member of the family, so by last year she had seven of them to do. 

She will be terribly missed by all of us.

Thankful

...for my mom, Vicki York Steele, who passed away this morning at the age of 86. She was the best mom, and I was so fortunate to have had her for 62 years. Rest peacefully, Mommy...I love you.

Happy Mother's Day 2020

 Happy Mother's Day! Here I am at my high school graduation with my two grandmothers and my mom (who is sporting some VERY cool 1980s glasses!).

And this is one of my favorite photos of my sweet mother--she still has this wonderful smile. I love you, Vivi Sue!

I Am Loved...

 ...and I am very very grateful.
The sweet little teddy bear was sent to me by my mommy to keep me company as I recover from surgery. She is right by my bedside!

Amazingly sweet friends sent over a whole picnic basket full of delicious wonders to enjoy while recuperating (can't wait to pop the champagne when I'm fully on the mend).

The Big 8-0

Happy birthday to the nuttiest, sweetest, most loving, goofiest, giggliest mother in the land: my mom, Vicki Sue, turned 80 years old today.

"So today is your birthday, that's what I've been told...what a wonderful birthday, you're one more year old. On a cake there'll be candles all lighted for you...and the whole world is singing 'Happy Birthday to You.'"
