Small and Bright

The smallest flowers are just as lovely as their big brethren--this is a teeny-tiny flower on a succulent.

Purple and Yellow

Spring is springing (although it 59 degrees earlier, chilly for the end of March here)...the purple flower is on a succulent in the front yard; the yellow spikes are on ornamental cabbages in the pot by the front door. The cabbages would last longer if I'd cut the flower spike off, but I wanted to see what it would do--and it didn't disappoint.

Happy Easter 2016

Happy Easter from Tallulah Mae and this little mechanical chick. Tallulah Mae was not amused.

Pinned Tomatoes

I buy these every time I see them at a sale (and I see them a LOT). I just like them, for whatever reason...the one on the right in front is actually the one I use for hand-sewing purposes.

Itsy Bitsy

Carrots from my raised beds...I decided to check today to see just what was going on with them. And look: miniature carrots! So cute...they taste like grown-up carrots, BTW...

Cute!

Humming

At the Japanese Friendship Garden, the hummingbirds were really enjoying the cherry blossoms (my little camera-that-could got these shots zoomed in from way far away).

Perhaps the bird above is the mom to these below...

OMG OMG OMG! How cute are they? Click on a picture to zoom in even further.

Of course, this nest is minuscule (you can see it in comparison with the magnolia leaves), as are the barely hatched babes inside. The nest was built in a magnolia tree RIGHT on the trail, seemingly in harm's way, in other words. I guess the birds know something we don't...

(I held my camera over the nest and hoped for the best, and I think these pix are pretty cool--I didn't want to disturb the nest or the babies...)

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

This is Tallulah Mae's "I'm-at-the-vet-for-my-geriattric-dog-checkup" face...

She actually likes it there--she gets LOTS of attention LOTS of treats. As one does...

In Memoriam: Stanley (2008-2016)

It is with the very heaviest of hearts and with tears in my eyes that I write this blog post: our beloved friend Stanley has passed away at the too-young age of 8.

He was the most mellow, good-natured boy...he loved bananas and sticks and belly rubs. He didn't care for squirrels or firemen in their running shorts.

He was loving and was so very loved. And he will be so terribly missed by everyone who knew him.

I have so many photos of Stanley...it was so hard to choose these. I am smiling even though I am so sad. We love you, Stanley!
