Tallulah Mae in her Halloween costume. Can you guess what she is (besides adorable)?
She is a matryoshka (nesting) doll. Babushka, babushka {sung in Kate Bush voice}.
(This sweet little dog--she puts up with a LOT from me!)
Happy Halloween, y'all!

Dragon in My Kitchen
File under: weird fruit (again!). This is dragon fruit. It looks like a sort of rubbery artichoke from the outside, and this is the interior. Very pretty. The taste? Meh.

Fun with Foziewisps
Spooky monster face?
Or weird something (flower?) blown down in the rainstorm last night?
YOU be the judge (Halloween is just around the corner!).

Tallulah-Palooza Friday
It takes very little to amuse Tallulah Mae...in fact, we have a whole basket of purchased toys in which she is really not interested. The object of her affection here?
A piece of the cardboard sleeve from a Starbucks cup, purloined from the recycling basket. She doesn't ever eat it, just chews on it like gum, spits it out, puts it back in for another round. Oh, this dog! Too. Cute!

Eight-Legged Salute
"Hellooooo," says Mr. McSpiderson. He's waving at you AND saluting you. Or does he have a headache? He'd like to remind you that Halloween is almost here.
P.S. That is most assuredly a female spider, a Western Spotted Orbweaver, I believe.

Quoth the Raven...
"...But the raven, sitting lonely on that placid bust, spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered; not a feather then he fluttered;
Till I scarcely more than muttered, "Other friends have flown before;
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before."
Then the bird said, "Nevermore."
Or he said, "Hertz #1 Club. 803." Whatever.
With apologies to Edgar Allan Poe.

Teeny Tiny Terrier
Behold BB. He belongs to my mother- and father-in-law, and he is the teeniest little Yorkie you've ever seen. He can almost sit in one of my hands.
He's blurry in the first two shots because he's constantly on the move (except when he was sleeping on B.'s chest, so sweet!)--he's like a hamster on meth. A sweet hamster on meth, but a hamster on meth nonetheless.

The Weekly Bee
Y'all know I just can't resist them...in another life, I will be a beekeeper--or perhaps I was a beekeeper?

Ba Na Na
Every time I see these banana flowers--which look like alien I-don't-know-whats--I'm amazed...and then look at all of the bananas!
Nature: it rocks!

Tallulah-Palooza Friday
Roll, roll, roll...what?
Tallulah Mae truly enjoys a good roll. She kicks her legs out, which you can sort of see in the first photo, and there are often little urfy noises that accompany this. And at the end, she's all, "I was rolling around, so what--there's nothing to see here, move along..." {Kiss, kiss, kiss, what?}

Neighborhood Picasso
OK, how charming is this? Someone has tacked up their kid's artwork on the outside of their house. These look to be Halloween themed. I love Narla!

Today in Foziewispishness
Recent acquisitions that are not feathers--it's molting season, so the feathers have been ridiculously abundant. I have no idea what the spiny thing is at left--it has some seeds rattling inside. Beside it is what's left after a magnolia blooms. The two bottoms things are, obviously, pinecones; the one on the right comes from a Norfolk pine.
I love the incredibly symmetrical dots on the middle part of the magnolia thingy (technical term).

Hebe, Hebe Bee
This is a pretty hebe plant in my backyard. Ms. Apis was busily working the tips of each stamen--I could watch bees all day...probably better for my mental health than this computer!

Tallulah-Palooza Friday
In the first photo, Tallulah Mae is trying to get the tuna can to levitate out of the pantry...
In the second photo, she is trying to make her bowl--being filled with the water from the tuna can--levitate over to her tray. RIGHT NOW!
Honestly, she is so smart that when you say "fish," she goes and stares at the pantry. If she had opposable thumbs...

Mystery Solved!
Remember this post? Turns out they are NOT squirrel spy cameras, but instead are passion fruit. I actually saw a flower on the vine today, very similar to this one, only white.
I nicked one (it was on the sidewalk!) and cut it open--the smell was heavenly!
Random heart!
I didn't eat it--I have a problem with ooey-gooey slimy textures, so this was not for me. But it's quite cool!
