This ridiculous little nugget is my mother-in-law's tiny Yorkie...she is absolutely teeny-tiny and very sweet. (Alas, my mum-in-law can no longer take care of her, so she's living with my brother-in-law at the moment.)

Psychedelic Christmas lights at the Galleria in Dallas (they weren't actually psychedelic, but they look that way from a moving car!)

Old-School Poinsettias

I do so love to see these gigantic poinsettia plants outside people's houses. It so reminds me of living in Hollywood when we first moved to Southern California. These must have been planted decades ago.

Above is the bulb in soil. It's a little taller!

And here is the odd waxed bulb from Trader Joe's ... um...wow! And there is one more unopened bud and another stalk.

And then the hideous...apparently my neighbors think that this three-story box built behind their house on their tiny lot is appropriate in our lovely historic neighborhood. I (and others) beg to differ.

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

Tallulah Mae is earning her keep by holding up the Christmas tree--it's a tough job, but someone's got to do it!

(Obviously, not really! She loves to get under there--it's her little Christmas fort. And we normally get a slightly larger tree, but this was the best we could find this year...it's definitely got a Charlie Brown kinda vibe to it.)

I Feel Felt

The holiday season is hectic when you have online shops, and this year is no exception...I did finally find time to do a bit of holiday crafting (this is for my cello teacher--and her cat!). Fun!

It's On

...the battle of the amarylli, that is!

On the left, a normal amaryllis bulb, in soil; it has been hibernating out in the potting shed for a year. It needs water.

On the right, a weird Trader Joe's amaryllis bulb that is encased in wax--no water, no soil, no nothin'. And it's about to bloom!

While it's cool and all, I do feel as if it has some unfair advantage, and I continue to root for the other one.

The moon was spectacular tonight! Apparently this is the third supermoon of 2016, a so-called cold moon. Always trying to photograph the moon...

I live in an amazing place: on my bedside table are these gorgeous roses from my garden, but last night we lit a fire because it was so chilly. Oh, SoCal!

Random Heart: Sweet Edition

 The real reason we visited the Phoenix Art Museum was to see this exhibition, "Emphatics." These avant-garde fashions, now owned by the Phoenix Art Museum, are all from the collection of James and Karin Legato, who owned a boutique called Emphatics in Pittsburgh, where they developed relationships with many of the designers.

There were also vitrines filled with ephemera (fashion show invites, look books, etc.), as well as giant screens with videos of fashion shows. So fun!
