A rarity: two hummingbirds sharing our feeder. These two have been at each other all day, buzzing/squeaking/dive bombing. They must have called a brief truce, because here they are!

I'm always sad to see one of these dudes dead...so pretty (and so hilariously clumsy as they fly around).

This one still had a bit of life left but the ants (gross!) were moving in, so I relocated him so that he could die in peace.

Frumpy to Cute

I bought this long black linen dress at a thrift shop...way too long, kinda frumpy, but with cute pintucks at the bodice.

I cut off about 6 inches and added some vintage trim around the bottom. Ta-da: a much cuter frock!

Any Excuse...

 ...to eat ice cream! Yesterday was National Ice Cream Day (decreed way back in the 1980s). So we had ice cream (this is salted caramel and Kahlua Krunch). Yum!

To France, With Love

I was going to do a happy, chirpy "Happy Bastille Day and eat lots of macarons" blog post earlier today but then the tragedy in Nice happened, so I did a different blog post today instead.

But then I decided to go ahead and honor France and the French people: Vive la France!

Book Overload

 I seem to have accumulated a TON of vintage books and pamphlets that I will never be able to list in my Etsy shops, so we're planning a book sale on Saturday. If you need a book about cake decorating, come on down!

Silly-billy cutie-patootie lovey-dovey Ella (bella)!

I love her...and no, she is NOT mine! Tallulah Mae still rules the roost here. Miss Mae is VERY picky about her canine pals--she has never ever met a human who she didn't like/love/lick--but she and Ella did have an encouraging meet-and-tail-wag on the Fourth of July.
