The Ladies

 These lady head vases belonged to my dad's mother, Dorothy (she's the "Dot" in my Etsy shop names). I vividly remember them being in her apartment when I was a child. My mom just gave them to me. I prefer the lady on the left...

At Last

It's FINALLY peony time! They are almost a month late this year...we've been waiting impatiently, but now we will enjoy them for the brief window in which they are available. Yay!

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

Tallulah Mae no longer likes her big bed in the spot where it has been for the past 13 and a half years. Every evening she pulls, pushes, scrabbles, pummels it out into the middle of the floor; it is often upside down or on its side. We have no idea why she's started doing this.

So excited to see the my first dahlia poking up through the dirt. This is "Loverboy," which will look like this when in bloom--fingers crossed!

Sweet (Pea) Heaven

 On my bedside table...are these not the most gorgeous sweet peas you've ever seen? I wish I could say they are from my garden, but alas, they are not (I missed the seed planting window, unfortunately). They are from a friend, and they were grown from seeds from Floret (whose book I raved about here!

Needless to say, the fragrance is intoxicating!

Pink Poppies Popping

Reseeded poppies, going strong! These have reseeded every year since about 2000...the original plants came from a package of mixed seeds that I bought at the Museum of Gardening in London. Love!

Morning, Glory

That purple against a lovely May blue sky...

Brassica

These are flowers on an ornamental cabbage. The plant gets tall and leggy and rather unattractive as it grows, but I always like to let it flower.

Shade

This beauty was fluttering its wings up and down in the shade...so pretty (it's a mourning cloak butterfly, BTW).
