Happy birthday to the nuttiest, sweetest, most loving, goofiest, giggliest mother in the land: my mom, Vicki Sue, turned 80 years old today.

Tiny on a Line

Here is the same (I think) little hummer that was in my tree now perching on a utility line. How does he/she do it with those minuscule feet?!

Summer Surprise

 I put this amaryllis outside after it bloomed earlier this year so that it could gather energy into its leaves; the leaves then die back and you put the bulb into darkness so that it will bloom again in the winter.

This one had a mind of its own--just gorgeous!

Feels Like Forever and Yesterday

It has been three months without Miss Mae...it simultaneously feels like just yesterday and forever. I wish I could kiss that pink velvety spot above her nose once more.

This is a beautiful little house finch, one of the many birds who come into the yard every morning for a bath and an insect feast. Love!

Pretty Kitty

 I am watching my neighbor's lovely cat, Ria, for a few days. She is sweet as can be, purrs and meows when I come in.

She is an outdoor cat during the day, however, and she is a bit pissed that for the next couple of days she is an indoor cat during the day.

These are in the garden at the Getty Center--they are the biggest hibiscus flowers I have ever seen--just gorgeous.
