I Heart Kombucha

I discovered a sweet little heart on the bottom of my Kevita kombucha bottle.

Hello

It is always very disconcerting when the pomegranate tree drops all of its leaves (not too many deciduous trees here in SoCal) and it is very exciting when the pretty new little leaves appear. Yay!

Foziewispishness

 I was sweeping behind a garbage can that has not been moved for a while (it is the spare for when we have extra trash, which is almost never) and I found this old wasp's nest. They are remarkable, aren't they?

Dislike wasps but love their architectural handiwork!

Bud/Bunny/Butterfly?

 A very pretty and delicate flower...

...that contains within it a butterfly and a purple bunny with big ears.

Unsettled

 Like most of the country, we have been having VERY changeable weather here. Lots of crazy wind, torrential downpours, and the sky going from above...

...to this: hail! All in about the space of an hour or so. Weird!

Yellow Bird

 A different yellow bird in the fountain! I think this is also a warbler, but not a Townsend's (wings are not dark). I'm not sure though...yellow warbler is my best guess (but maybe a vireo?). In any case, seeing these lovelies in my own back yard thrills me.

Before

 Before the clouds did what they did at sunset, they did this. Amazing. It NEVER gets old!

Sky Time (and pretend this is Monday)

 Technical difficulties and general ennui meant no blog post yesterday (Monday)--so two today!

 Gorgeous magnolias...I've never seen these pink ones before.

Avian Loveliness

Yay! Look who visited: a Townsend's warbler! Gorgeous! (The photo is a bit blurry because I didn't want to get too close and scare him off...)

Our fountain has had to be off/empty several times this fall/winter due to mechanical/leaking issues, so there have not been as many birds--that, plus it is winter, so I think there are just fewer of them around in general. 

Come on spring, and welcome back, my dear little avian friends!

Camellia Puddles

Heavy rain and winds take a toll on camellia flowers (not the hardiest of blossoms under the best of circumstances). On a grey day, they are lovely spots of colors on wet pavement.

Rainy Day Solution

Rainy and chilly day? The only thing for it is to curl up with a can't-put-it-down book like this one (anything by Kate Atkinson is HIGHLY recommended--Life After Life is on my top 10 list) and a hot, milky, sweet cuppa. Heavenly!
