Bean Time
Nothing going on around here (which I like!), so I present to you some pretty dried beans (I think they are Calypso, but I'm not sure...)

Berry Happy
Fat and juicy berries from my two tiny blueberry bushes--yay! Last year I think I got about 4, so we're already ahead (with more forming as we speak). They are quite delicious, too!

365 Days Without Her
365 days without Tallulah Mae. The sadness is a bit less raw, but there is still a permanent place in our hearts that feels empty since she left.
We still talk about her almost every day, remembering some funny/silly/weird/sweet thing she did...You are so terribly missed, Miss Mae; I hope you're enjoying LOTS of tuna fish and many lattes in doggy heaven.

Throwback
All that remains of Mr. Lucky's nightclub in Glendale, Arizona, is this (wonderfully demented) sign. The upstairs was the country/western bar (replete with mechanical bull), while downstairs was a sort of rock/new wave area.
Apparently it opened in 1966 and was planned as a casino, but when that was not allowed, the name stuck and the bar/nightclub was born.
I went there occasionally in the early 1980s (as did my big brother). It apparently became a Latino-themed club in the early 2000s then closed altogether in 2004. It was then a discount furniture store (!), and now it is boarded up.
The (wonderfully demented sign) lives on!

So Tempting...
Only ten cents for this record...the cover art alone is worth the price of admission...
...and puppets singing "Jesus Loves Me"--what can that possibly sound like?!? We'll never know, because I did not buy it.

I Feel You, Barbie
The eighties were an, um, "interesting" time for fashion on the whole, as many photographs of me from that time will bear witness. Here, proof that not even Barbie was immune. As for Ken...well, you know!

Coffee Birds
Birds in my Nespresso! The one above is just as found...I did not do anything to it.
I did add the eye and the beak line here, but it's clearly a parrot in my coffee!

Bird Report
A sweet house finch.
And a crow. They repeatedly put things in our fountain (as I report every single year!). So far it has mostly been peanuts...not sure what this is. Only once this spring have I found baby bird parts (ewww).
