Naughty Bits
OK, so I don't want to be THAT immature person, but this flower is a wee bit rude (front AND back). Right?!?
It is actually really quite cool: it is called Dutchman's Pipe (also called a pelican flower). This bloom is huge--at least 10 inches (OMG, that sounds a bit naughty too, LOL).
Plenty more where that came from!
(This is not my plant, BTW...)

Baaaaa
This very large squeaky lamb got a bath yesterday...she was quite filthy.
I think she's pleased.
SOMEONE keeps moving her around the house...here she is snuggling with the vintage duck decoy. Santa will be quite jealous, as he generally likes to cuddle with the duck at Christmastime.

(I can't find the link to a pic of Santa and his duck friend because Blogger has changed the editing template and it SUCKS.)

Sweet Blooms
The dahlias and roses are the stars of the cutting garden, but the sweet little blooms sometimes steal the show. These are gomphrena and pinks, both of which have been removed from the raised beds as they were done. Charming!

Lounge Lizardo
How beautiful is this lizard? Amazing colors...He/she showed up in my raised bed (after I pulled some plants out). The lizards are favorites of ours. We have big ones, teeny ones, and everything in between.

Flock o' Doves
As I have written about many times before, the sweet doves like to congregate and nestle into the mulch for a little rest. They also do the weird lifting of the wing thing...We love them!

Try to Save the Bee
Well, I tried to save THIS bee: she was in a spider's web and I removed her (the spider was PISSED). She crawled a bit...but then she keeled over. I don't know if it was the stress or if the spider injected her with venom, or what. Boo!
RIP, bee girl!

Come and Knock on Our Door
Soooo happy to have a beer (and some tots!) here again...this is one of our favorite "beer joints"!
(The title of the post and name of the establishment is a reference to "Three's Company," BTW...)

Magic Trick
This dove appears to know how to do a magic trick: "The Disappearing Dove Head."
Now you see it.
Abracadabra! Now you don't!
Now you do! Presto!

Pandemica
In these strange times, one finds fun where one can...we found it by going to the South Bay Drive-In (since 1958) to see a filmed concert by Metallica. Pandemica!
We came, we saw, we (B.) got the t-shirt.
It was a new (and fun) experience!
I am not a heavy metal fan, really, but I do really like Metallica (I mean, who doesn't?!).

Pretty/Sad
This is what it looks like when there is a huge wildfire burning in your county...so sad.
Weird red/orange light coming in the windows...
Even today the sun still looks weird.

Labor (Day) Reward
B. and I "labored" today (he working on new gates/fencing, I doing yardwork), so we were extra happy to have our required ice cream (it's the law--well, our law) to have it on national holidays. We both had chocolate chip (so good--the vanilla ice cream is delicious and not just a boring vehicle for the chocolate chips). They currently can't put the ice cream in the cone and hand it to you, so this is what you get.
It is from our favorite ice cream purveyor, Niederfrank's, holding on since 1948.
Happy Labor Day!

Fort-itude
Q: What do you do when you want to protect these beauties from the tree trimming going on on the other side of the fence?
A: You build a dahlia fort! (It worked well, though it was rather unnecessary as the trees were quickly and efficiently butchered by the "landscaper" next door--a travesty! Sigh.)

Bubbly
Such oddness...guess I never noticed before that cucumbers give up these tiny moisture bubbles when they are cut. Weird! (And cool!)
