It's Nuts!
This skwerlio ran into the yard with this peanut, tried out several different areas for potential burying places, then chose the plant in photo three. So cute! I watched it dig, place the peanut, then use its little hands to pat the dirt back over it.

Quite the Catch
This Muffler Man is quite the catch because he is located on private property (technically) but is also right beside the very busy 405 Freeway in Carson (south of L.A.). Fortunately, he is beside an on-ramp AND I have the very best (and most patient) personal driver who goes out of his way to ensure that I get the shot. Yay!

Fun at the Fair
...the Los Angeles Printers Fair, that is (at the International Printing Museum in Carson). We attended this in 2019 and were happy to go back again this year. Lots of vendors selling cards, prints, etc., as well as demonstrations of various printing presses at the museum. Great fun!

Hi, Hydrangea
My friend brought me the most amazing hydrangea blossom today--it is HUGE! And check out those perfect glossy green leaves...it is possible to propagate these from these stems...hmmm...

Rosy
It was not a great year for the roses, for some reason...lots of rain early in the year, which I might have thought would make them happy. These are lovely, though, and they smell heavenly.

The Last (Probably)
I cut the first dahlias in the first week of July and now have cut what are probably the last blooms today. Three months of continuous flowers, pretty fab!

Backyard Bird Bonanza
It was a day for birds I haven't seen before in the backyard.
A Bewick's wren (which I have heard many times but never seen before).A song sparrow. And what I think is a female orange-crowned warbler.
Finches and towhees and hummingbirds, too! A good bird day!

Lizardito
We love lizardos around here...This was one of the teeniest ones we've ever seen (and there were several more in the yard at the same time).
How teeny was it?
THIS teeny (foot for size comparison...lizardo was in no danger). Unbelievably cute!

Mob(bed) Scene
When you are a hawk just minding your own business in the top of a very tall pine tree and the crows decide to harass you repeatedly...note that the hawk doesn't do anything except look up at them.
