Sew Mama Giveaway Day (U.S. Visitors)
Welcome, Sew Mama Sew visitors (and everyone else)! Who doesn't love a chance to win some fun stuff?
For U.S. visitors only--international visitors, please see your giveaway here--I'm offering an envelope chock full o' vintage sewing stuff: what you see above--that brown fabric is actually a skirt that someone started; all you have to do is finish it, or you can repurpose the fabric--plus other bits and bobs I'll add later, PLUS anything (or things) from my Etsy shop, sewbettyanddot, up to $20. I decided to let YOU choose since you can pick your size or something to make for your little ones, etc. You can pick as many things as you like, up to $20. If you win, you'll send me a message telling me what things you'd like and I'll ship them on out to you--please note your prizes must come from sewbettyanddot, my sewing-themed shop only (not my other Etsy shop, though please do check it out, too!). Fun, yes?
Giveaway closes at midnight on Friday, May 16; winner will be chosen by the Random Number Generator.
You don't have to follow/like/friend me--but if you'd like to check out what I'm up to in the social media universe, please feel free!

To win, simply leave a comment below. For fun, if you'd like to tell me what movie you LOVE for its costuming, please do so. I have a zillion faves, including The Women (that fashion show!), Funny Face (Audrey! Fred! Paris!) and Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette. (If you just want to say "Hi!" or "Pick me!", that's fine too!) Please remember to leave some way for me to contact you should you win. That's it!
Be sure to visit Sew Mama Sew for all of the hundreds of other fun giveaways! Whew!
Happy (Belated) Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day, a day late (computer madness yesterday!). This is my glamorous mommy--just 19 years old here, holding my big brother. I love you, Vivi Sue! You're the best!

Tallulah-Palooza Friday
This girl...she is just too much! Those white eyelashes...
We were coming back from our weekly walk with our friends--Stanley!--and she was verrrry sleepy. Sweet dreams, Tallulah Mae.
(What is that black dot up there? I can't make it go away!)

Rusty Lace
I always stop and take pictures of rusty stuff...people must think I'm crazed. But look how pretty this is!

Japanese Friendship
I became a member of the Japanese Friendship Garden this year, and a few weeks ago they had a very nice Membership Tea.
Top photos show a very condensed version of the traditional tea ceremony, lovely.
Then, koi (of course), lovely (I never tire of photographing them).
And, sakura (cherry blossoms)! Lovely!

Cirque des écureuils
Cue the circus music!
"Giddy-up," said Monsieur SKWERL. Mademoiselle Lapin is not amused, while M. Jardin Gnome is just chillin'.
Uh-oh, looks like Mlle. Lapin has just bucked M. SKWERL off onto the ground. He's all, "I meant to do that."
Meanwhile, the Great SKWERLenda (get it? "Skwerl" plus "Wallenda" = "SKWERLenda") is high above the ring.
TA DA!
{Clap clap clap clap}.
Bien fait, mes chers écureuils! Bravo!
(This little dude was really scratching himself up there and I was actually terrified that he was going to fall off--that is one HIGH telephone pole. All's well that ends well!)

Da (Yarn) Bomb
I love a good yarn bombing...and this one is quite cool! It's at the University Heights Library--apparently this group has done other bombs as well (read about it here). Fun!
