{Cue the scary music...} Look out, Tallulah Mae!
There is a disembodied hand coming for you! Spoooooky....
Um...
You're not scared?
You are in fact bored?
You say it is a mannequin hand and you really wish I'd stop bothering you with this tomfoolery?
OK...sorry, go about your business.
Happy Halloween, from me and Miss Tallulah Mae!

Dead Pan
Before and after: the annual baking of Pan de Muertos, or bread of the dead (for Dia de los Muertos on Sunday). This bread is quite delicious, and every time I make it I tell myself to bake it more often than once a year. Maybe this year I'll remember!

Little Lizardo
Remember the grande lizard I last posted about?
Here is a teeny-tiny one hanging about. He is lacking a tail...and he is a bit weird--he lets me stroke him before he skitters off, and he is constantly lounging on the back steps (so I have to REALLY watch where I step!).

Frownies
Ah, if only it were so easy: "Here, stick a piece of paper on your face and all of your wrinkles will magically disappear!" These ladies don't look too happy about it, do they?

Tallulah-Palooza Friday
Here is Tallulah Mae trying to hypnotize us with her shiny lower dog lip: "You are getting sleepy AND you want to give the dog some watermelon. Waaaaatermellllonnnn...."

Orange and Yellow
These lovely yellow and orange--candy corn!--tulips complement our Halloween display. I love them when they flop open and you can see the interior loveliness.
Every year these make me smile. It's getting very hard to find/afford the vintage paper pulp pumpkins, alas...lots of fakes out there, or if they are not fake, they cost a LOT; these are a mix of vintage and modern repros (NOT made in China, for the most part). I'm glad we found the ones we did when we did. One day I hope to find a box of them at an estate sale!

Snippets from the Garden
The fall/winter roses are usually a bit nicer than the summer ones--there seem to be few insects nibbling on them, for one thing. This is a beauty!
And it's always a good estate sale when a new galvanized watering can comes home with me (for a reasonable price--I'm a cheapskate, y'all!). Amazingly, of the nine I have, no two are exactly the same.
Now that it is not a million degrees outside, as it was ALL summer, I hope to enjoy the garden...it's been newly replanted! More on that later...

Lounge Lizard
This is a rather hefty (and long) fellow--and I saw a teeny-tiny one today that is about as long as one leg on this dude/dudette. Love the lizards!
Sky Glider
Nothing quite like a raptor floating overhead...simply gorgeous. This is a hawk, either a Cooper's or redtail.
(This should have been Monday's blog post but it wouldn't publish last night, for some irritating reason...so you'll get two from me today.)
