Quiet Beauty Space
We all want quiet. We all want beauty ... We all need space. Unless we have it, we cannot reach that sense of quiet in which whispers of better things come to us gently.
--Octavia Hill (1838-1912)
Octavia Hill was, among many other things, one of the co-founders of the National Trust in England. She was a fascinating and accomplished person...
P.S. One of the benefits of insomnia is being up early enough this morning to experience this beauty...

Wisteria Redux
Every spring, the neighborhood waits for this beauty to burst into bloom. And here it is! (We missed it last year...it seemed to have bloomed while we were on the road.)
And a sweet flashback: this is one of the last pictures I took of Tallulah Mae, in 2018 (almost two years since she's been gone...) My precious girl, you are dearly missed, especially now when it would be extra nice to have a dog to snuggle with...

Yay!
I think these are orioles, although I am not 100% sure (maybe Western king birds? Which are more uncommon...?).
These two were about twenty feet apart and singing and calling at the top of their lungs. Gorgeous!
This is how far away they were from me (I love my little Canon Elph camera!)

Slough Walk
In between rainstorms, we took a little walk around the Famosa Slough (pronounced "slew" in this context...the English town Slough is pronounced "Slow," rhymes with "cow," while the verb "slough" is pronounced "sluff"). Ah, the English language!
These are great egrets (not just good, they're great, LOL).
A little blue heron, extendo neck edition.
More egrets.
Little blue heron, squatty edition.
Squatty edition heron turned into extendo neck heron.
Very nice to get out of the house. We're still allowed to walk around in nature, thank god! (For those reading in the next century, LOL, we're on COVID-19 lockdown...)
