Pretty/Not Pretty

Pretty: lovely flowers at the Japanese Friendship Garden.
Not pretty: my bloody eyeball. I woke up two days ago to this. Ugh. It is apparently a "subconjunctival hemorrhage" (fancy words for "broken blood vessel in the eye"). Zombie eye!

Spring Springing

I love watching leaves and flowers unfurl...I'm always amazed at the process.

The last photo is interesting because the seed pods are still hanging there from last fall, even as the new leaves are bursting forth.

Birds Birds Birds

Hummingbird, mockingbirds, dove couple (love them, so sweet!), goldfinch taking off from my redbud tree. All in the same 10 minute span--so happy that the birds are getting more active again.

May I help you? Look at that face!

Don't Judge Me...

 "Harrumph!"
 "?????"
 "Oh?"
 "I'm so sure."
 "Gulp."
 "Whaaaaa?"
 "Really?!"
 "Oh my!" {x 3.}
"Boo hoo (also, we are REALLY weird and vaguely creepy)."

It's true--I got nothin' to blog about today...partially due to technical difficulties, partly due to...well, um, er...don't judge me, 'kay?

Road Trippin' (Beer--and Tallulah Mae--Included)

This is a fun little road trip we took in November, heading east. It's all rather self-explanatory, except for photo 2--whaaaaaat?

Happy Monday

Hope you all had the day off and did some serious relaxing.

Tallulah Mae recommends napping inside a cello case.

Tallulah-Palooza Friday, and Happy Valentine's Day!

Several hearts here: she's almost making a heart shape with her legs up there (I didn't pose her--she is always "as found"); heart-shaped doggy biscuit (the tongue is the aftermath of her eating it); and her little heart-shaped pads. I heart you, Tallulah Mae!

And Happy Valentine's Day to all of you! It also happens to be my wedding anniversary, so February 14th is an extra-special day in this household.

Cak Cak Cak

I ran outside in my pajamas this morning because I heard this beauty out in front of the house. This is a Cooper's hawk, quite common in this area.

He or she was making the "cak-series" call, which is the second audio clip on the Audubon site; you can see its mouth wide open in pix 2, 3, and 4 (click on the photos to make them nice and large).

Gorgeous floofy bird pantaloons, yes? They look so soft and fluffy (unlike the awesome beak on this bird). Love!
