Mini Mini

At first you might think, oh, what a cute Mini Cooper...but please look more closely at JUST how teeny this car is--it is lower than the parking meter! So so cute...and so so mini!

The First

Even though I pruned the rose bushes a little late this year, they are already producing like mad--yay! These are the first two to arrive...

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

Now that this girl is 15 years old--this month, her birthday month!--there is a lot of this: lurking about, standing about...what does she want, one wonders? She's terribly adorable, no matter what! Kiss kiss, Miss Mae!

Sakura Love

The Cherry Blossom Festival at the Japanese Friendship Garden was in March, but because we've had such freaky weather, some of the trees are blooming again (still?). Such loveliness!

A poem by Basho (1644-1694):

A cloud of cherry blossoms;
The temple bell,-
Is it Ueno, is it Asakusa?
How many, many things
They call to mind
These cherry-blossoms!
Very brief –
Gleam of blossoms in the treetops
On a moonlit night.
A lovely spring night
suddenly vanished while we
viewed cherry blossoms

Koi Koi

A trip to the Japanese Friendship Garden is not complete without a visit with the koi...and how cute is this little girl drawing them?

Kentucky Girl

Rummage sale finds! (The ceramic dish is by Rosemead and is actually QUITE collectible, unbeknownst to me when I purchased it...for 25 cents!)

I am from Kentucky, BTW, so I will be keeping these and adding them to my own collection.

Interior Loveliness

This is the First Presbyterian Church, built in 1913. The architect is Robert Orr. Lovely ornate ceiling trusses!
Very pretty stained glass windows, too...
Even in the bathrooms!

P.S. We have not become religious--this was one of the buildings on the San Diego Architectural Foundation Open House. We also visited an historic synagogue, Ohr Shalom.

Happy National Pet Day

These "National [fill in the blank] Day" things are  rather silly, I know, but how can I NOT post a pic of the sweet/goofy/majestically weird creature that is Miss Tallulah Mae? She is one of  a kind, for sure...

Hug your pets extra tight: your rats, your tortoises, your kitties, your ferrets, your foxes--I just found an Instagram account where someone has a pet possum (I think they are cute when they aren't baring their fangs):  https://www.instagram.com/itsmesesame/?hl=en !

P.S. That cup is NOT stuck on her face--the minute she lowers her head, it falls off...

Just...this face! Fifteen years old this month, and she is as adorable as ever (she is a bit demented, but this face!).

Parrots/Berries

(I love the last photo--it's as if they are saying, "What are YOU looking at?")

In fact, I was quite far away from them, but they do seem to be looking my way, don't they?!

Avian Redux

Surprise: More birds! This adorable pair of sweet goldfinches were having a bath in our fountain--they are so tiny that from a distance they looked like hummingbirds. How I love them!

P.S. He's the one with the black toupee!
