A Gift

One of my mourning dove friends left me a present...

Was it this lovely?

Dove Pink

(Not really a pink dove...this is the light of the setting sun making the dove appear to be rosy.)

Teeny

There are at least 3 hummingbirds who call our backyard theirs. For years we had Anna's hummingbirds (and I think there is one in the yard now), but the Allen's hummingbirds seem to be dominant. Check out the tongue being stuck out above!

That gold gorget (throat area)...
Here on full display as he scratches an itch.

I could--and sometimes do, LOL--watch them all day!

WOW WOW WOW

For the very first time in the 20 years we have lived in San Diego, there were robins in the yard!!! So so SO excited. They are beautiful!

I am assuming these are male and female, but I'm not completely sure--one definitely had a redder chest.
Post-bath floof!

Hello, Phoebe

It's hard to get a good photo of a phoebe because they rarely stay still. They are so-called flycatchers, so they are constantly swooping around eating insects.

Put a Ring Around It

Another visit from several Eurasian collared doves, who differ from our regular mourning doves by (obviously) the dark ring around the back of their necks and their slightly slimmer appearance. All doves welcome here!
