Redux
This waxed amaryllis bulb is particularly amazing. It has sent up this amazing flower stalk again. Below is the first bloom, back in December. Wow! (The other two bulbs have also sent up new flower stalks...we'll see what results.)

Red Red
This is the last flower on the first amaryllis to bloom (the one that bloomed back in December). This flower is enormous! (Still waiting on the other two bulbs...)

Amazing Amaryllis
Wow. This waxed amaryllis bulb is BURSTING with flowers. The stems are quite short, interestingly...Waiting on the other two bulbs to put on a show!

Hanging On
This gorgeous amaryllis, bought before Christmas, sent up another shoot with four big blooms on it (wow!). And the teeny poinsettia looks as good as it did the day it came into the house, also before Christmas.

Summer Surprise
I put this amaryllis outside after it bloomed earlier this year so that it could gather energy into its leaves; the leaves then die back and you put the bulb into darkness so that it will bloom again in the winter.
This one had a mind of its own--just gorgeous!

Windowsill Lovelies
It's amaryllis time! The beauty on the right is from Trader Joe's, and it bloomed within a week of arrival. The other two (which you can't really see) are from years past--I stuck them out in the potting shed and hope they'll also bloom. A green leaf is a good sign!

I Heart Mother Nature
I never cease to be amazed by and excited about amaryllis bulbs. This one sat there, doing nothing, for a month, and I thought I'd overwatered it and caused it to rot. But no: above, December 19--one stalk and bud.
January 6th: two stalks, three flower buds.
January 11.
You can see that the second stalk is almost as tall as the first one.
These flowers are so baroque and over the top.
And after this one finishes (in a day or two), I have an unopened kit from Trader Joe's--white flowers this time.

January 25: Stalk number one is finished (that's it on the right) and number two is in full glorious bloom.
So much fun from a $5.99 kit from Ace Hardware! And after this one finishes (in a day or two), I have an unopened kit from Trader Joe's--white flowers this time.
