Happy Love Day!

 

Happy Valentine's Day! It also happens to be my wedding anniversary (yay! And 37 years, YAY!).

We kicked off the day this way...

Then we went to pick out a dessert for later. This was an option...

As were all of these (and many more)...

But I ended up choosing this.

While B. had this. 

An indulgence, indeed, but hey! It's our anniversary (and Valentine's Day) up in here!

Delightful

 How much do I love See's? Not only are the chocolates utterly delicious, there is also the whole black-and-white color scheme and retro vibe. I mean, look at this cuteness! Never ever change, See's!

Ugly/Yummy

First attempt at homemade peanut butter cups. It is not pretty, but it tastes pretty darn good! I will try again, with a few modifications...

Candy Is Dandy

Eye candy (and candy candy): taffy. I love the IDEA of taffy but do not like the taste of it. Go figure.

Why Not?

Why NOT have iced coffee and a Reese's peanut butter cup for an afternoon snack? Why not, I ask you? So I did! And it was yum.

Smart(ies) Pants

 Hey, what's happened to the "M" on these candies?!

 Are they defective?

Why no, they're Smarties, the British counterpart to the classic M&M. As it turns out, Smarties predate M&Ms by some 50 years.

They actually do taste different. The Smarties coating has a bit of a flavor to it, while the M&M coating is basically just sugar. Here is one person's comparison of the two.

I confess to preferring M&Ms, while B.--who grew up in Europe and has an English mum--prefers Smarties. I guess that childhood nostalgia thing is hard to overcome! Now, let's talk Reese's peanut butter cups vs. Trader Joe's...THAT'S a tough contest!

Yummy Cuteness? Or Cute Yumminess?

Would you please look at these chocolates? Yum. And how kawaii are those little chocolate mice? Good grief! I won't be able to eat them because they are so cute. The chocolates in the front right corner? Delish!

These were a gift from my very own yummy and cute B. They are from a Cambridge (Mass.) chocolatier called L.A. Burdick's. Have I mentioned YUM?
