Purchased outfits (I love the teeny-tiny labels inside!). Barbie was apparently very into pleather.

Handmade outfits.

And hangers especially for each doll (who chewed on the top of Barbie's hanger?). 

Barbie's Stuff

 

Barbie accessories...including the infamous scale with 110 pounds on it (it's fuzzy!). Not sure who the one earring belongs to (they don't have pierced ears). And the little record comes off of the record player. 

I love the little purse below: it is a "winky" (lenticular image)--the dancers' legs "move" up and down (impossible to photograph!).

A variety of boot styles, including the gold lame one that fits over a high-heeled shoe...

Shoes--I have TONS more--including a toe shoe...

...which fits perfectly on Barbie's much-discussed foot shape.

I love this filter...it looks as if they were in a photo booth.

Barbie Fun

 

I decided to get my Barbies out in honor of the new Barbie movie opening tomorrow...

First up: a wedding tableau in honor of my nephew and his fiancee getting married today. Congrats, Ted and Steph! 

My mom sewed Barbie's ensemble (though she doesn't remember making it), complete with a lacy garter ("something blue"). Poor Ken, ever the afterthought...no formal clothes for him, so he is wearing a Swingin' Sixties outfit.

Just a few delights from a Palm Springs antique mall... the first two are not really "antique," and the third one...is creepy.

These are kind of cute...kind of...maybe (although the one on the left has weirdly small arms and hands).

 When you find a shoebox full of dolls that your mom kept (even though she was not supposed to, right, Vivi [smiley face]?)...those are Dawn dolls above. They are having very bad hair days!

These Blythe dolls all belong to a friend...so amazing! Each is of course different (in ways large and small). And those little dresses! Some are made from vintage handkerchiefs...

Paper Doll Fun

 So I bought some paper dolls a while back...and I DO plan to list them in my shop...but not until I play with them first! I love this set because of course I wanted to be a ballerina and took many years of dance lessons.

 Guess which one is me?

 Why this one, of course! She looks like me (dark hair, blue eyes), and she has a bird! Perfect.

 Love this outfit...who doesn't want what appear to be three-dimensional chicken appliques on their pants?

 Love this dress, too, with its matching gloves.

And the words "Babs" and "togs" in the same sentence? Oh yeah!

These were obviously well loved and played with, as they most assuredly have been if they'd been mine forty-some years ago.
