It's Your Birthday Up in Here!
Happiest of birthdays, my sweetest B.! If Tallulah Mae were still with us, she'd wish you happy birthday as well, and then hope that you might share some of your birthday cake with her.

Velvety
That thing where you have the sweetest husband ever who brings you these gorgeous flowers to celebrate our anniversary--which was four months ago! Tuberose was in my wedding bouquet...
These roses are actually a darker, more velvety red...the camera is making them brighter than they are. They are amazing! As is my sweet B. ...

Sweet Tree, Sweet B.
When you come home and find that your sweet husband, who has trimmed the golden medallion tree out front so that it won't interfere with your car, has placed a cut-off flowering branch in a vase for you... he's the best!

Surprise Outing Fun
On Saturday, B. surprised me with a VERY fun outing up to Carson to the L.A. Printers Fair, held at the International Printing Museum. Many many talented artists and printers had their wares on display...
A linotype machine! When I first started editing, we still used linotype to print our catalogues.
So very fun...printing, in all its guises, is an amazing thing--without Mr. Gutenberg, we would not have civilization as we know it (the good part of civilization, that is...we can't blame the current state of the world on him!).

Donut, Star
This it what it looks like when the best husband ever drops off a fresh warm donut to you on his way to work.
Despite all of the hip and gourmet donut shops around at the moment, I personally find it hard to beat an old-school donut from Donut Star, which has been in the 'hood for quite a long time. I mean, I like ALL donuts--as my large derriere will testify--but a good old-fashioned donut wins every time.

This Is Monday's Post!
This is what it looks like when your sweet sweet husband goes out of his way in Australia to buy you some yarn--yarn made in Australia (apparently not so easy to find). This is yarn from Bendigo Woollen Mills. Lovely!

Happy Mother's Day
The King, the Queen, and the Princess.
Happy Mother's Day, everyone: even if you're not a parent yourself, we've all been mothered (by our moms or our grandmothers or our step-moms, aunts, friends, teachers). Hug your favorite Mom today--or think about her fondly, wherever she may be.
Love you so much, Vivi!

Further Proof...
...that I have the sweetest husband ever. Look what he brought me from Toronto: tons of MAC goodness. Yay! (He's the sweetest even when not bearing gifts, BTW!).
Hey look, it's a self-portrait of my wrinkly hands!
