Ave Avocado

Honestly, it's hard to top avocado on toast, isn't it? I think that I could eat it every single day and never tire of it.

Plum Good

When nature hands you some overripe plums, what do you do? If you're me, you make some delicious plum butter! Easy-peasy and oh-so-good! (If I do say so myself!).

So bad, so good! A pile of donut madness from Donut Star, the best little donut shop in the 'hood. Yum!

This Week in Breakfast

At top, some yummy blueberry cornbread and a latte. The cornbread is yummy, not too sweet and chock full of berries, as you can see. And at the bottom of the latte bowl? A random heart, yay!

The bottom pic is one of my faves: raw oatmeal with berries, a bit of brown sugar, and lots of milk.

Yum!

Ch-ch-ch Chia...Pudding

OK, so it doesn't LOOK all that appetizing, but it's rather tasty: chia "pudding" (no cook) made with almond milk and maple syrup. Chia seeds (the ones I have are black, hence the lovely grey color!) are super high in protein and fiber. And yes, I believe they are THOSE chia seeds. The texture is rather like tapioca.

We have a hard time with breakfast...boring, not all that great for you, etc., etc., so I was nosing around the interwebs and found this. It's filling, eaten with some fruit...until it's not: about 3 hours after eating it, you are all of a sudden HUNGRY. Variety, spice, life.

Easter Repast

Yum! This is our thirtieth Easter together--wow!--and we have a tradition of having a big breakfast at home, usually French toast. Can I get a "Yum" up in here?

Coffee, Coffee Cake

Yum! This is Bisquick coffee cake, a Christmas tradition in my family for as long as I can remember. Super easy, super good. And you don't have to wait until Christmas to have it--it's just as good on March 31!

Two Good Things (Actually, Eight Good Things)

 French toast...
And icy cold beer.

Not at the same time, of course...

Veggie Love

Breakfast has never been my favorite meal--really, often I'd just rather not--but my new love for the morning repast is roasted veggies over some sort of starch (quinoa, couscous, etc.). Add a few walnuts and some shredded seaweed...yum yum YUM! (No, really...you should try it!)

Yum

Pie and coffee for breakfast? Why yes, I'd love some, thank you! (This is grits pie, absolutely fabulous--very similar to chess pie. First time I made it--didn't make the crust this time, too lazy--and I will definitely be making it again.)

Breakfast Yumminess

Eggs, toast, faux-sage (soy sausage--B. had a slice of country ham), and lovely bright yellow stone-ground grits from Weisenberger Mill in Midway, Kentucky. Yum yum and YUM! Oh, and coffee, of course.
