Wow
I was gifted these fantastic vintage watering can for my birthday from my very dear friend. It's huge, and I love it.
Not the best photo (oops), but you can see it there on the far right with its smaller brethren. So cool! Thank you, Miss W.!

Kindnesses
We have the very nicest friends! Lovely flowers, which definitely cheer one up after surgery. Not shown: very nice cards (and ice cream).

Happy Mail!
When your sweet sweet friend sends you a sweet sweet package full of sweet sweet things! I love them! (Fun fact: the cardinal is the state [commonwealth, if we're being technical] bird of Kentucky--and a bunch of other states, I think!)I mean...how cute is this?!?
This is the maker of the adorable tea towel.
Thank you SO much, sweet J-Lou!

I Am Loved...
...and I am very very grateful.
The sweet little teddy bear was sent to me by my mommy to keep me company as I recover from surgery. She is right by my bedside!
Amazingly sweet friends sent over a whole picnic basket full of delicious wonders to enjoy while recuperating (can't wait to pop the champagne when I'm fully on the mend).

In Memoriam: Stanley (2008-2016)
It is with the very heaviest of hearts and with tears in my eyes that I write this blog post: our beloved friend Stanley has passed away at the too-young age of 8.
He was the most mellow, good-natured boy...he loved bananas and sticks and belly rubs. He didn't care for squirrels or firemen in their running shorts.
He was loving and was so very loved. And he will be so terribly missed by everyone who knew him.
I have so many photos of Stanley...it was so hard to choose these. I am smiling even though I am so sad. We love you, Stanley!

Craft Night
Robin of Various and Sunday hosted a very fun craft night this evening for three of us in the 'hood...we made paper Christmas ornaments out of strips of paper, beer or champagne caps, and straws. The one at the top was made by our friend and instructor, Mitch--the girl's got skills!
My first attempt is at the bottom...not quite like hers! (In my defense, part of the problem--but not ALL of the problems!) is that my paper was not stiff enough. I know, I know: that's what SHE said! :) Practice makes...if not perfect, then better.
Fun to eat, drink, laugh, gab, and craft. Thanks, Robin, Mitch, and Alice!

TikiTiki Mai Tai Bali Hai
Fun mai tais and dinner with friends at the Bali Hai. Sadly, no umbrellas (or plastic monkeys) in the drinks.
This fellow is out front. Check out this vintage photo of the same dude with quite the bombshell standing next to him.
Fun fun!

Birthday Up in Here!
My day started with a kiss from the best husband ever, followed by my mom singing her special birthday song over the phone (no birthday is complete without it!). Yoga, thrift shop, birthday greetings from friends.
Lunch with a sweet friend, macarons (from same sweet friend), a delicious hoppy beer and some guacamole with my honey. Clouds.
Prezzies!
It's my birthday up in here (for a few more hours yet...). Yay!

Funny and Silly and Sweet
That's what these cards are! These birthday cards...all of these cards...came from the same person, on the same day! My funny and silly and sweet friend sent me 27 birthday cards (it all made sense, trust me!).
This should wrap up the birthday posts, 3 weeks on...I tried to drag it out to a whole month and ALMOST did!

Of Housedresses and Dusters
I really love a good housedress--I've been known to wear them as out-of-the-house dresses--if they're cute, who cares?. Check out this darling homemade one I just got--love the print, love the sweet button detail, love the bias tape and piping detail (also on the pockets and the hem...the seamstress did a very nice job). Cool and comfy for the hot weather ahead.
And speaking of housecoats or dusters: check out this darling version made by Sampson and Lorrie of the super-sweet blog Puddles and Price. They bought the pattern from my Etsy shop Sew Betty and Dot, and they sewed it right up into a cute cute CUTE duster. They are the very best kind of Etsy customers--communicative and sweet, they are what makes Etsy such a fun place to sell vintage. Cheers, Lorrie and Sampson--and thanks again! I'll be checking in frequently to see what other fun things they're up to on their lovely blog.
