Lizardo in a Box

Imagine my surprise when I sailed into the bathroom and saw this long lizardo. I might have let out a tiny scream--it has such a long tail that it looks a bit like a snake out of the corner of one's eye...

I did manage to drop this plastic shoebox over it--I was very afraid of catching its tail but fortunately did not--and then slid a piece of cardboard underneath and RAN outside with it. All's well that end's well! We love our lizardos, but they cannot come inside the house...it's the rule!

SKWERL and Peanut

SKWERLS hide peanuts around the yard--often in my potted plants--and then enjoy a nutty snack later. (And this one does not have a spotty tail; those are water spots on the sliding door (which perhaps needs a good clean!).

How You Doin'?

What a gorgeous lizard!

But it DOES have little T-Rex arms, doesn't it?

It's Nuts!

This skwerlio ran into the yard with this peanut, tried out several different areas for potential burying places, then chose the plant in photo three. So cute! I watched it dig, place the peanut, then use its little hands to pat the dirt back over it.

Lizardito

We love lizardos around here...

This was one of the teeniest ones we've ever seen (and there were several more in the yard at the same time).
How teeny was it?
THIS teeny (foot for size comparison...lizardo was in no danger). Unbelievably cute!

Lounging Little Lizardo

A lovely lizardo lounging in the sun...look at its tail!

Super relaxed...
Kinda sleepy...
Wait...where did it go?!

There it is! Sooo teeny-tiny!

SKWERL, Stucco

While it looks upon first glance as if this skwerl is playing the pan pipes...

...in fact, weirdly, it is trying to nibble on a piece of stucco (I think--this photo is on a roof across the alley from our house). When I saw it from a distance, I thought it had a pine cone.
It did indeed seem to try to nibble, but eventually it dropped it and scampered away.
Kinda odd...

An Alligator?

Hey, there seems to be a tiny alligator in my yard! (It is a Western fence lizard, actually...)

But when I zoom in, why does it look as if its nostril is made of metal? That looks like a grommet! Huh?

The Lizard Nursery

The lovely lizards in our yard have always skittered out from and back under this planter, so we have always imagined there is a busy nursery under there filed with adorable baby lizardos...like this one!

Um...

This silly lizardo was just hanging out, upside down, on a grate on the side of our house. La la la la la...

Surprise!

This dude/dudette must have been hiding in a very large dead plant that I pulled up; I had it resting in a trashcan as I chopped it up to better fit into the greenery recycling barrel.

I'm not sure who was more surprised, me or it!

Trying to blend in...it stayed very very still and did not remove itself until we left the area. So beautiful!

Sunning

The poor lizardos...it has been grey/rainy/cold for a week or so. This tiny dude took advantage of the brief hour of sunshine today to enjoy the warmth.

Look how very tiny! I thought it was a grasshopper at first...so cute!
