Time for the annual photograph of this amazing poinsettia plant growing outside a house in my neighborhood. Love it!

Gorgeous

I usually prefer the classic red poinsettia, but this one is so pretty.

This bush is about 5 feet tall, beside a 1920s apartment building in the 'hood.

Little Methuselah the poinsettia is doing quite well, with one red bract hanging on, 6 months later...and nice healthy new green leaves are happening. Here are older pix of it: here, here, and here.

This is the same little tiny poinsettia that has been with us since mid-December.

Hanging On

 

This gorgeous amaryllis, bought before Christmas, sent up another shoot with four big blooms on it (wow!). And the teeny poinsettia looks as good as it did the day it came into the house, also before Christmas.

In other parts of the country, this would be frost coating this poinsettia...this is just the remnants of a foggy evening...

Flowers and Bracts

Poinsettia goodness! A close-up look at the actual flowers...the red "petals" are actually bracts (but then, most of you probably know that!).

Old School

 Wow! I know I've written about this before, but I LOVE these outdoors poinsettias...they remind me so much of old L.A./Hollywood (you see them planted in the courtyards of old bungalow compounds; they have probably been there since at least the 1920s).

This amazing plant is next to a late teens/early twenties house, so it was probably planted not long after the house was built. Love!

Old-School Poinsettias

I do so love to see these gigantic poinsettia plants outside people's houses. It so reminds me of living in Hollywood when we first moved to Southern California. These must have been planted decades ago.
