Tallulah-Palooza Friday

Here Tallulah Mae is practicing her telekinetic powers. She is staring at someone having a frozen coffee drink (with whip) and willing the cup to float over to her...
Try harder, Miss Mae! You can do it!

Too Lovely Tulips

Love these! It almost looks as if I used some sort of digital paint effect on these, but no...these look like the watercolors I wish I could create!

Gr8 Sk8! Save the Skating Rink!

I just came back from a very well-attended (I'd say 1,000 people) rally to save Skateworld, the last remaining skating rink in the county--boo! It's a thriving business, owned by the same guy for the past 35 years...it's being threatened by some ridiculous city council shenanigans (read about it here).
The interior--it used to be the auditorium of a school...

Check out this lady's jacket: "Trocadero Old Timers Roller Skaters"--how cool is that? And she's talking to a former Roller Derby star (the guy in the black jacket)...

Who doesn't remember going to the skating rink? I loved it! Many many fond memories...it's a shame to deprive people of something so fun. I feel bad for kids who won't get to play miniature golf, go bowling, or skate round and round to blaring music...and what do they have to replace these things? Not much...

Lunch, with Caption

That kind of sums it up, except: YUM!

Chickens, Not-So-Little (But Lovely)

Anyone who knows me knows I have an obsession with chickens...I just do, what can I say? But come on, how pretty are these two birds? I believe the reddish one is an Ameracauna, and the black-and-white one is, perhaps, a Dominique? Just lovely...and they make the sweetest clucking noises, too. I got to hold the one above. Ah, chickens...

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

Don't you hate it when your jowl gets smushed while you're sleeping? I know I sure do!!!

Lavender Landing Pad

If you'd been one of my neighbors, you'd have seen me following this tiny butterfly around my front yard...it's OK, they're used to it! Nothing to see here, move along...

F.O.T. (Friend of Tallulah)

This beautiful little Siamese cat came meowing over to us as Tallulah and I were walking. Tallulah is VERY interested in cats, but I'm never sure exactly what that interest is (friendship? curiosity? mealtime?). I always have her lie down and I feed her treats while she examines the cat (and I always stand on her leash just in case she decides to do something...unfortunate).
She (he?) sidled right up to Tallulah, walking right under her chin...they sniffed each other and then the cat parked herself about 18 inches away. They stared at each other, and then we continued on our merry way.

So Sweet (Literally and Figuratively)

It's lemonade stand time! It's my personal rule to ALWAYS stop at one, no matter what...I've had warm Crystal Light, Martha Stewart-esque freshly squeezed, and everything in between. If you look closely at that sign up there, in the bottom left corner it says "We Like Lemonade." Cute!!!!!
Pink lemonade and a little strawberry tart...and a huge dose of darlingness from about 7 very excited little ones...

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

Check out Miss Mae's funny little back feet...we often tell her she has pointy deer feet (they also, somehow, remind me of little bird feet).
"We are NOT amused" (said in best Queen Victoria voice).

I Heart Etsy and the Blogosphere in General

How excited am I? I was fortunate enough to have several different items from my Etsy shop, Betty and Dot, included in some super-cool treasuries on Etsy (here, here, and here). For those of you who might not know, treasuries are a really fun way for Etsians to group favorite/cool/interesting items according to a theme. Thanks so much Bluebell Vintage (SOOOO many cute vintage things in her shop, go look!), Romy and Clare Designs (cool pottery, jewelry, and textiles), Something Monumental, and Scotty Girl Designs.

In addition, two of those fellow Etsians (here are their shops, Something Monumental and Scotty Girl Design) have ever so kindly included their finds from my (and others') shop in blog posts (go, now, and check out their blogs): here is Shannon from Scotty Girl Design (and a big Happy 100th Post to her, BTW!), and here is Mandy from Something Monumental (with whom I share a major obsession about all things roadside, including those darkly handsome and mysterious Muffler Men!). I'm thrilled to have such lovely bloggers/Etsians focusing on items from my shop.

A big ol' YAY! Etsy has become a big part of my life and I can't think of one bad thing to say about it. Now, the outrageous price of shipping? That's another story (I'm looking at YOU, USPS)...

The Animals (2010 Fair Edition)

Aren't they just lovely? I love them all...in my dreams I have sheep and goats (and chickens and mini donkeys and bees, too!). Also in my dreams? All of these cuties are romping together on a cozy little farm (MY cozy little farm!) and living to a ripe old age...and I don't want to hear anything different {fingers in ears, "LA LA LA"}.

Some Stuff That People Make (2010 Fair Edition)

Elvis, done with tiny pieces of wood. ..
Astonishing, really...
A VERY scary table.
An amazing piece of craftsmanship...this lion stood four feet high.
Check out the skull afghan on the left.
Knitted food, always fun.
Dolls. They won a blue ribbon.
A cat house. Um...
One of my favorite things...such a sweet little sampler.
I think the birds and mice from Cinderella might have made that dress.
And: "Boo,y'all!"
