'Hood Sign

A cool neon sign in my very own 'hood. I wish they would fix the neon and light this up!

Happy Christmas Eve Eve!

This year's photo of Santa on a tractor, right down the street from us. I just love how this man continues to amuse the neighborhood on every holiday with someone/something sitting on the tractor.

Please enjoy Tallulah Mae visiting Santa in 2008.

Annual Display

It's time once again for the annual display of wisteria; this one is just down the street from us. We need smell-o-vision: it smells heavenly!

Here is Miss Mae enjoying the wisteria a few years ago...

Chalky Fun

 Remember this volunteer sunflower?
Someone has left this sweet note...
And this funny face was in the middle of the road.

Quirky

Someone in my neighborhood is delightfully weird...this was on a telephone pole.

Happy Fourth

 The obligatory blurry fireworks...

 Milkshakes!
Gin and tonic made with purple gin.
The neighborhood parade, now in its 20th year, featuring kids on scooters, babies in wagons, and dogs wearing bandanas. It's the best!

Pass the Books

Our new neighborhood library--many years in the making--had a grand opening on Saturday. They had a "Book Brigade"--1,800 people passing the "last" 200 books (they were clearly selected for the purpose: paperback classics). The last book to be passed was The Hobbit.

I went to the library today--while it is very, very nice (much bigger, with more seating, study rooms, community rooms, a Friends of the Library shop, etc.), I will miss the old and small midcentury (1961) building.

Wisteria: This Year's Edition

As gorgeous as ever! Hoping to see some of the big black bees that seem to love this flower...

Halloweenie Fun

Remember this? The fab red vintage tractor has gone away, alas, but this super-cool mini-car has appeared. And the creepy pumpkin-head man is now joined by two clowns. How I love this!

Neighborhood Whimsy

Time to check in with the marvelous neighborhood topiary garden...lookin' good!

And what's that in the bottom photo? A random heart!

Fourth Forth

Time once again for the neighborhood Fourth of July parade. It has gotten quite large, which is fun (I mean, "large" relatively speaking!).
 Our doggie friend Mika.
 A kindred elder dog spirit.
 Mingling.
 Milling.
 Mixing.
On the move!
Tallulah Mae is a spectator. She enjoyed it more this year, I think, because she is now almost completely deaf: no unpleasant scooter/bicycle/skateboard/wagon sounds!

Fun fun! I love our 'hood.
