Artichoke Check

 

I planted this artichoke in a pot as a bit of an experiment...and at first, it looked like it was going to be a failure. The plant is looking good at the moment--I think it has liked the rain we've had--but the true test will be if it makes any artichokes. Fingers crossed!

Bubbly

 Such oddness...guess I never noticed before that cucumbers give up these tiny moisture bubbles when they are cut. Weird! (And cool!)

A delicious "seasonal ingredients" salad from True Food Kitchen: Brussels sprouts, squash, beans, toasted mulberries, and cauliflower. So yum!

So fun to gather things from the garden and eat them! Obviously, the top two photos are of the salad that came from the raised beds.

Itsy Bitsy

Carrots from my raised beds...I decided to check today to see just what was going on with them. And look: miniature carrots! So cute...they taste like grown-up carrots, BTW...

Sometimes the produce department just looks really nice, you know? Those radishes are enticing!

My Maters

Finally, some tomatoes from my own plants...the weird flat ones at top are an heirloom called Purple Kalabash, and they are freaky: I think there is some sort of pollination problem, because most of them have little knobbly nascent tomatoes on the bottom side. Weird...haven't eaten one yet, so not sure if they even taste good. We shall see!

Also: I didn't intend for this to look this way, but Blogger is not cooperating.
