This time a mockingbird feather... all of the birds have been molting but are just about finished. I don't really see mockingbirds in the yard, so this is a special one.

I'm not sure who left me this little gift--was it a hawk or an owl?--but I'm glad they did.

Treasure

Look what I found today! A wild parrot feather! I want to do it justice with a better photo, but I just had to share my treasure.

Feather Foziewispishness

I found this tiny white feather on my sage bush this morning. Foziewispish feather find!

OMG OMG OMG

THIS!!! A hawk hanging out in our fountain...he was here for about twenty minutes, mostly standing there, but also taking a bath. I was transfixed. Such a gorgeous creature. I feel very luck to have seen him.

Teeny-Tiny Things

I saw some teeny-tiny things today: an itsy-bitsy feather and Mr. Mini Lizard, who was about an 1 1/4 inch long (I tried to put my wedding ring down by him for scale, but he skittered off before I could).

Birds of a Feather, Feathers of a Bird

I believe these to be two different kinds of hawk feathers: maybe red-tailed hawk on left (though I'm not sure) and Cooper's hawk on the right (could be sharp-shinned hawk, too). It always feels like such a gift to find them.
