... both are finches (though one is a lesser goldfinch [not a judgment, the actual name of the species, LOL], the other a house finch).

This little finch is probably on the lookout for the orioles, who definitely make a racket when they are in the yard (and this feeder is for them, really, but the finches certainly eat their fair share of the jelly).
