Tallulah-Palooza Friday

Sometimes you just need to keep your friends close...

This photo allows you to see her rarely seen leg freckles...so cute!

This isn't even her favorite toy--her fave is a round piece of cloth that used to be a travel jewelry pouch. It makes her crazy crazier!

Huh, Um, What

 Huh?
 Um...
What?

These faces were me today at various points. Blue moon, anyone?

Things I Like: Wooden Spools

I love wooden spools...they make me happy all gathered together.

(There is a lull in creativity in Foziewispland this week...dog days of summer, I guess...)

Tuesday Randomness

Hello! That's all I've got for today...hope your Tuesday is/was great!

Perhaps ice cream or cocktails were involved? Perhaps an ice cream cocktail?

Dahlias in Watercolor

The dahlias at top were freshly cut; the one at bottom was blooming in July. So lovely!

SOP: Week Nine

MUCH better, yes? Click here for before photo. It's subtle, but it's better, and it's much more logically organized now. Makes packing Etsy (which I HATE, even though I have the cutest packing department ever, Mr. B.) easier.

This week, which will be the last of the SOP--Labor Day, after all; wow how did THAT happen?--we will revisit the closet clean-out/clean-up. I'm determined!

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

Dog in Chair. Note: a) she is wedged in the side, causing the cushion to rise on the other side; b) her legs are crossed, as they are quite frequently; c) she is sticking her tongue out at me; and d) she is freaking adorable.

Things I Like: Vehicular Edition

This little camper: perfect size, and love the color coordination.
This Dodge truck--super cool, and again, love the color (mint and white!).
This station wagon...not sure what make it is--though I'm fairly certain it is not an American care--but I love its compactness.

Things That Look Like Other Things

A rock that looks like a steak.
A piece of palm tree that looks like a longhorn steer head. Wait for Halloween when I tie it on Tallulah's head (like the Grinch did to his dog to make him into a reindeer) for her goat costume.

Super Dog

I made this for a friend's birthday...her sweet dog, Riley, as a superdog!
He has canine super powers, of course.

Things in Trees

 1. SKWERL!!!!!!! Right outside my bedroom window, no less. Cheeky little sod.
2. Hummingbird, trying to stay in the shade on a hot day.

SOP: Week Eight

Oh no! Still no closet clean-out...too HOT! The sun, it is scorching--see that flower up there, about to burst into flames.

I just can't try on clothes, including wool dresses, sweaters, etc., when it is eleventy-billion degrees...I just can't. So, postponed once again, alas.
So let's try this: this is the area where I pack Etsy stuff--the little wooden thing on the right holds business cards, etc.; the messy area in the middle is cello bags that I put pattern in (also some ribbon mess there too); the little drawers hold thank-you gifts (hankies if you spend over a certain amount). Tidying ahoy!

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

Tallulah Mae Eats a Frozen Carrot: A Drama in Four Parts. Great anticipation as the curtain rises...
Part One: She looks terribly sad. But hark, could that be the sound of the freezer opening to reveal the magic frozen carrot?
Part Two: The Delicious Carrot, it is quite crunchy.
Part Three: She must chew and chew the Carrot o' Goodness.
Part Four: She is finished, and she sticks out her tongue to express her satisfaction and gratitude (it is an ancient custom).

Fin. {Clap clap clap}

Randomness Redux

I must take a moment to commemorate the day Elvis died, August 16, 1977...TCB forever! (The image is from an exhibition called "Echoes of Elvis" that I saw in 2010 in Washington, D.C.--alas, I don't know the artist's name.)
Also? Beer, it is good!

Randomness

 1. Happy 100th Birthday, Julia Child! These are her pans, from the re-creation of her kitchen at the Smithsonian.(warning: there is sound at that link, but it's a cool link to the Smithsonian's site).
 2. A gorgeous sunset--we usually get these in the winter, so a special treat to see one in August.
3. Impromptu dinner at Ricky's, which is attached to a motel. Family owned since 1967...B. had fried chicken, I had a mushroom and spinach omelet and hand-cut hash browns (which were not quite crispy enough--I like them really hard on the outside).

That is all...

I Ate Him!

...and he was only "meh." The sandwich, which was enlivened by romaine lettuce, mayo, and cilantro (yes, I'm one of those people who LOVES cilantro), was actually yumalicious!

My Maters

Finally, some tomatoes from my own plants...the weird flat ones at top are an heirloom called Purple Kalabash, and they are freaky: I think there is some sort of pollination problem, because most of them have little knobbly nascent tomatoes on the bottom side. Weird...haven't eaten one yet, so not sure if they even taste good. We shall see!

Also: I didn't intend for this to look this way, but Blogger is not cooperating.

SOP: Week Seven

Tallulah Mae is looking at me with disappointment.*

EPIC FAIL! I did not accomplish this week's set task (my closet). Too darn hot to try on clothes (many of which are too small, I suspect). So, no. I did do some more work in my pattern area, so I was a wee bit productive.

So this week's task is a repeat: the closet.

*Actually, that's her patented "What?" look. She's so patient with me and my camera...sweet girl, kiss kiss!

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

 Who's a happy dog?
Tallulah Mae, that's who!

Whaaat?

Listen carefully...you'll hear the sound of me not having anything interesting to say today! This pipe cleaner bird is giving me the side eye for being so uncreative. Hey, it's a hot Thursday in August and I got my teeth cleaned. The end.

Etsy in Person

Etsy swag! Miss Robin and I went to a San Diego Etsy meetup last night. Interesting to meet other local Etsians and hear about their shops. Party favors, always fun.
It was held in this cool industrial space downtown.
And there was a raffle. Of tote bags. We didn't win. (The girls handing out the totes are from Etsy HQ in Brooklyn, so cool to meet them.)

A New Park in the 'Hood

After a struggle that lasted eight years, our neighborhood has a new pocket park...it's a tiny bit of land on the edge of the lush canyon above. It was an overgrown mess for years, with homeless folks living in it. Eight years ago, a bunch of us cleared it out of weeds...and then the weeds grew back while the city debated the design/tried to find money/etc. And it was cleared of weeds again. And it all grew back, again.
But several tenacious folks kept at it, didn't give up, and lo and behold: a nice place to rest, sit on the park bench and enjoy the view. Above, the ribbon cutting by a bunch of people, only some of whom actually had anything to do with the park's realization (everyone was invited up, to be fair...)
And a cute dog, on a bench, enjoying the view.

Sunny Sunflowers

Sunflowers, they rock!

P.S. The red ribbon on my bulletin board from the San Diego County Fair is for a second-place pie in 2009, my Grandma's sugar cream pie (yum!). I was totally thrilled, and I blogged about it here.

SOP Week Six

The bulletin board! Looks a million times better, yes? I'm quite pleased.

It was like an archaeological dig to remove everything from it. Here it was before (scroll down to bottom of post).

And now!

Next up: my side of the closet. No before pix (you really DON'T need to see it!), but hopefully next Sunday I will have bags o' donations to show you.

Tallulah Palooza Friday

What are you in for, pardner? Excessive cuteness? Adorableness without a license? Dog(jay)walking? Causing heads to explode from darling overload? I'll bail you out, Tallulah Mae--we'll post bond of 1,000 dog biscuits, don't you worry! {Smooch.}
