Sick Day Tableau

A nice cup of tea, a digestive, some knitting, and a costume drama on the telly...perfect sick day set-up. A have a gnarly cold...it's a nasty one, so everyone wash your hands and avoid sneezers!

Tea for Butterflies

This is really cute: a girl (and her grandmother) had a stand set up on the corner of my street, and I stopped (I always patronize lemonade stands, even if what's being served is lukewarm Crystal Light). They were selling pound cake (complete with strawberries and whipped cream), cookies, passionfruit sorbet (sold out), and passionfruit iced tea. And here's the tea, complete with paper umbrella! It was quite tasty.

The homeowners have a lush and lovely passionfruit vine--remember this?--and proceeds from the refreshment stand are going to help save the gulf fritillary, a pretty orange butterfly that only lays eggs on the passionfruit vine.

I love the entrepreneurial spirit and conservation concern of this young lady--you go, girlie!

Tea for Two and Two for Tea

This is the "French Metro Tea" (for two, la la la) from Bread and Cie, our local yum bakery/cafe. It was really quite delish!

A Cuppa with My Best Bloke

B. and I went for tea at Shakespeare's Tea Shoppe last week. His mother is British, so we take these sorts of teas with a grain of salt, as it were--his mum is always saying that most Brits would not recognize what is served as "tea" (the repast, not the beverage) in this country. But no matter...

The little sandwiches were yum (served with Branson pickle), and mine were all vegetarian, which I appreciated. The scones were absolute perfection (most American scones are just not right--too big, too cake like, not enough of that light, almost biscuity texture). The sweets, not so great, but a fun time was certainly had by all.
