Picky

On Saturday, B. and I and a dear friend picked Satsuma tangerines with a group (50 or so) of volunteers for an organization called ProduceGood; they are "gleaners" whose volunteers work with farmers/farmers markets/etc. to recover any edible food that might otherwise go to waste. The food then goes to food banks and other organizations that help out folks who are struggling. It was a gloriously beautiful day, the farm was at the end of a scenic (though mighty curvy!) country road, and the tangerines were delicious. A perfectly lovely day!

And we had lunch afterward at Rainbow Oaks restaurant, which is a marvelously authentic place favored by bikers. Yummy food and BIG portions.

Fun Fall Outing 2019!

After an unsuccessful attempt on Sunday, we tried again today. Fun Fall Outing success!

We drove the back way to a farm stand on the outskirts of Escondido. Pumpkin patch is picked over, of course, but there are still gourds aplenty on the ground.

 Bees!

 Silly photo opportunities!
 Squirrelinator! (?)

Then we drove into Escondido for lunch. Twinkle Tub!
This is Blackjack the parrot, hanging out outside a barber shop.

Delightfully retro...
This cafe was closed, alas, but cute inside.

Fun. Fall. Outing! Yay!

Sunny Flowers

Last week I treated myself to an afternoon at the U-pick sunflower field at Suzie's Farm. So fun! The flowers were in various states (attractive--to me, at least--in whatever condition), and there were TONS of bees: honeybees, bumble bees, little native bees. Also lady bugs! I had a wonderful time.

Down on the Farm

I visited this organic farm, Los Poblanos--they grow lavender, amongst other things--in Albuquerque. It's also apparently a very high-end inn...
