Tallulah-Palooza Friday

"My precioussssssss..."

Tallulah Mae LOVES to grab canvas bags and trot away with them. She's very proud of herself. She then waits for someone to follow her and engage so she can run around in circles with her precious bag. Sometimes she leaves one, goes and gets another, and then lies on top of both of them. She's been known to try to drag bags out of the kitchen that still have groceries in them. My silly silly girl...

Cloudosity

Rather humid here today (relatively speaking), which makes for some lovely cloudosity.

Day of Domesticity

Yesterday I sewed up a little drawstring bag out of brown linen and I made lemon coconut quick bread. Both activities were fun (though not totally successful: the little bag was not right for its intended purpose and the bread was a bit dry/overbaked [even though I followed the recipe exactly]). Oh well...it's in the doing, right?

Boy, that blueberry sure made a lot of muffins...kidding! These are delicious: cornmeal blueberry muffins. Highly recommended and highly delish!

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

Apparently it's dinner time...if she could tuck a napkin in and bang cutlery on the table, she would. She looks disgruntled in the first pic, doesn't she (I actually think I just caught her blinking...). Kiss kiss, Miss Mae!

Peachy Keen

Aren't these a gorgeous color? They are ornamental (I think? They are on a neighbor's tree), but they are just lovely nonetheless.

Artifacts from an Enjoyable Afternoon

Sheet music (Vivaldi's cello sonatas) from cello lesson? Check.
Vogue patterns on sale at JoAnn's for $3.99 (instead of $32.99): Accounted for.
A ginormous Starbucks nonfat Frappucino with whipped cream, "free" with my gold card? Oh yeah, baby! A good afternoon indeed (it doesn't take to much to please me!).

Fine Vine

Remember this tractor with Santa? A turkey? A Halloween monster? The Easter Bunny? Now it's surrounded by a pumpkin vine.
With big ol' pumpkins! I envious--I've yet to successfully grow pumpkins--maybe I need a vintage tractor!

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

I love how in the first two photos, her shadow looks like an arrow. And I love the third one because, well, look at that FACE! Smooch.

Blueberry Harvest

That's "blueberry," singular--see it up there? It was quite tasty.

Maybe those others will ripen, too. Hope springs eternal.

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

Because who DOESN'T like a nice juicy piece of watermelon?

She eats it like a human, scraping it with her little tiny front teeth--too cute!

Seventies Sewing Sins

 Well, yes...
But if these are the results, maybe he shouldn't!!! (These are images from a vintage sewing book I have; I'm working on an upcoming post for my Etsy pattern team blog.)

Speaking of which, here's a fun blog post I did about mother/daughter patterns: Like Mother, Like Daughter (the Simplicity Way), and I also wrote three posts about prom dresses, if you're at all interested. Even if you don't sew, there are pretty pics of prom patterns--say THAT 3 times fast!

If you ARE into sewing or vintage patterns, Pattern Patter, the pattern team, is having an anniversary celebration tomorrow, and many shops are giving discounts. Find the list here. In my own pattern shop, Sew Betty and Dot, everything is 25% off through the weekend. Thus endeth the commercial interruption--now back to our regular programming.

I just had to share those poor hapless fellows up there...ah, the 1970s, I cherish you.

Teeny Tiny Beauty

These are succulent blossoms, each quite tiny, about 1/2 inch across. Beauty is everywhere.

Peas of Sweetness

My poor sweet peas...I get about seven or eight blossoms every few days. My "friends' the gophers decimated the plants, so there are two brave little ones pumping out flowers for me. Their watercolor loveliness and delicate scent please me greatly.

Um...

Okaaaay...why? This is in the lobby of the Hotel La Jolla, a very nice hotel...how Mr. Rolled-Up-Yoga-Mat-Wearing-a-Hat-and-with-a-Mustache fits in, I'm not sure.
