Babies

OMG, y'all, the babies have landed! Two or three days ago we heard tiny little peeping/cheeping sounds, and sure enough, dad and/or mom has been VERY busy feeding these ravenous things.
  I mean...

Hello, babies!
Amazing to watch the parent bird(s)...they come to feed the babies at least every 5 minutes or so. It must be quite exhausting!

Humming

At the Japanese Friendship Garden, the hummingbirds were really enjoying the cherry blossoms (my little camera-that-could got these shots zoomed in from way far away).

Perhaps the bird above is the mom to these below...

OMG OMG OMG! How cute are they? Click on a picture to zoom in even further.

Of course, this nest is minuscule (you can see it in comparison with the magnolia leaves), as are the barely hatched babes inside. The nest was built in a magnolia tree RIGHT on the trail, seemingly in harm's way, in other words. I guess the birds know something we don't...

(I held my camera over the nest and hoped for the best, and I think these pix are pretty cool--I didn't want to disturb the nest or the babies...)
