A dramatic end to a crazy, dramatic weather day: gale force winds all day, lashing rain that dried, graupel (tiny hail-like frozen bits), and then this golden sunset. And also? BRRRRRR.....

Rainbow, Bright

 

Finally, after all of the rain we have had in January, I saw a rainbow! There have been a lot of them, apparently, but I missed them all, despite checking outside every 5 minutes...and I would have missed this one if I had not been alerted by my sweet B., who called me to tell me to go out and look.

Surrogate

 

Tallulah Mae and I used to sit out on the back steps and enjoy the lovely fall weather (too hot in the summer). I was sitting on the steps this afternoon thinking about her...and I looked down and two steps down was this lizard. It hung out with me for a while, basking in the sun, just like Miss Mae.

BOOM!

We had a rare--and really cool--thunderstorm this evening. Lots of lightning and lots of LOUD thunder; the thunder was mostly the rumbly kind with an occasional CRACK. Exciting!

 

Happy October

 

Right on cue, San Diego autumn weather kicks in: chilly at night, then a Santa Ana in the afternoon.

Wacky Weather

Unsettled

 Like most of the country, we have been having VERY changeable weather here. Lots of crazy wind, torrential downpours, and the sky going from above...

...to this: hail! All in about the space of an hour or so. Weird!

Cold and rainy day--perfect for staying in bed to nurse my wretched cold with a warm comforter and hot water bottles.
