Yellow and Green

When the utility company cut down a palm tree in front of our house--and good riddance to palm trees--they replaced it with a tiny tree. It's now grown quite a lot (and with really no extra watering from us) and this year has bloomed nicely.

Its botanical name is Cassia leptophylla, common name Golden Medallion tree. These photos show four stages: closed flower, full blossom, after the petals have fallen, and finally, with long green seed pods. It's a pretty tree, if a wee bit messy. Now we just need to get the other 50-foot-tall palm tree removed!
