Down By the River

 Rattlenake! Fast asleep...

We went on a hike on Saturday under the auspices of the Nature Conservancy (of which we are members--cool organization...check it out!).

We were at the Santa Margarita Ecological Reserve, which is not open to the general public without a reservation (it's a research station). Amazingly, after a 4-year drought, there was water in the Santa Margarita River, in large part from an outfall of water from a drinking water reservoir.

There were a few wildflowers, a baby rattlesnake sleeping in the sun in a nest of twigs, and a cool lizard or two.

And a random heart...

Fun! It's always good to get out into nature and away from glowing screens.
