This is a banner year for Painted Lady butterflies--they are on the move in large flocks, migrating up from Mexico to the Pacific Northwest. I didn't see flocks in our backyard, but in an hour or so I counted about 50 of them. They don't stay still for very long, so hard to catch in a photograph, but so beautiful!
