Guess Where I Was Recently?

What gave it away, the Alcatraz sign or the cable car? Yep, San Francisco...so picturesque. More photos to follow.
And no, there was not a UFO hovering over the city while we were there--my beloved little camera had "fibers" inside it. It's just come back from repair (and there is STILL a spot, so back it must go, boo!).

Cucumbers Large and Small

This has been a rather crappy year for gardening for me except for my fabulous artichoke surprise. I chalk it up to terrible soil: my cutting garden (other than sweet peas) was nonexistent because no seeds germinated, plus I planted tomatoes late and have yet to see any fruit; the plants don't really seem to be thriving, either.
But I do have a Japanese cucumber...the little dude in the second photo, which I thought would turn into Cucumber No. 2 has now shriveled up and fallen off. But hey, at least there's one! Small victories...

The Colors of Summer

These beauties were all brought to us on the same day from various people's gardens...don't you love the bright and luscious colors (and folks' generosity, too!).
(The tomatoes and lemons are easily recognizable, of course--the bright green things are fresh figs. I adore dried figs, but if you've never had a fresh one, you simply must try it...it's like a lovely pudding inside: scoop out with a spoon and enjoy!)

Cupcake Love

Check out these beauties: red velvet cupcakes--with sprinkles!--from the fabulous Miss Robin over at Various and Sunday. (Sadly, she doesn't have the ability to send cupcakes over the Interwebs...she lives nearby. And yes, they were SOOOO delish!)

I have been tagged by the charming JuJu for an "about me" type of thingy...and JuJu, I'll do it, I swear.! One of these days!

Meet Sir Egmont Plant

Known as "Egg" to his friends, he likes to wear hats at a rakish angle.
This is his dog, Mr. Toodles.

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

If there were a dog version of Rapa Nui (Easter Island), I think a sculpture of this girl's head, in this pose, would be there...
