My Maters

Finally, some tomatoes from my own plants...the weird flat ones at top are an heirloom called Purple Kalabash, and they are freaky: I think there is some sort of pollination problem, because most of them have little knobbly nascent tomatoes on the bottom side. Weird...haven't eaten one yet, so not sure if they even taste good. We shall see!

Also: I didn't intend for this to look this way, but Blogger is not cooperating.

Cute tomato head. Trying to compete with Mr. Potato Head??

Not that I don't like the tomato person, but I would really like to eat his head slapped between two pieces of soft white bread, surrounded by a blanket of mayo, salt and pepper.

Will be anxious to hear what their taste is like. Hope they are good and not "cardboard" like most of the tomatoes we have out here. XOXO

Sort of looks like my bigger maters this summer! They were some variety of heirloom. My landlord didn't even know they were tomatoes but I tell you what, they were delicious! Our first season is over here and I am going to find some plants for the second season, the joys of living in a warm climate.

I am with JuJu, slice that thing slap it between two slices of Wonder Bread (if they still make it) add a bunch of Hellman's (or Best Foods if you live west of the Rockies) some salt and pepper and enjoy!!!
