Route 66 Road Trip Day 9: Kickin' It!

Winslow, Arizona, to Kingman, Arizona.

Apparently Winslow decided that THIS is the corner referenced in the Eagles' song "Take It Easy."

 Many abandoned tourist/roadside attractions abandoned...
Including this, which is Two Guns, Arizona. It was a tourist attraction for many years, starting from the early twentieth century and included gas, food, and a "zoo" with captive mountain lions and other animals (sad). It is built next to a cave where, in the 1870s, some Native Americans were trapped inside (by other Native Americans) and burned to death. Billy the Kid is also said to have been here. These are mostly the graffiti-covered remains of 1960s and 1970s structures, including a KOA campground site (and its swimming pool).

 Part of the roadside "zoo."

 The cave structures...
Muffler man/lumberjack at Northern Arizona University (their mascot is a lumberjack...)

 Flagstaff, Arizona.

 Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument.

This is in Williams...coincidentally, I sold a vintage tablecloth from Rod's about two months ago on Etsy!
