The Sun Has Set

My father left this life this morning. Words truly fail me. Here are some words from Walt Whitman.

On the Beach at Night (An excerpt)

On the beach, at night,

Stands a child with her father,

Watching the east, the autumn sky.

Up through the darkness,

While ravening clouds, the burial clouds, in black masses spreading,

Lower, sullen and fast, athwart and down the sky,

Amid a transparent clear belt of ether yet left in the east,

Ascends, large and calm, the lord-star Jupiter;

And night at hand, only a very little above,

Swim the delicate brother, the Pleiades.

From the beach, the child, holding the hand of her father,

Those burial-clouds that lower, victorious, soon to devour all,

Watching, silently weeps.

Hold your loved ones close to you tonight.

My heart hurts for you, Little One.

He, and he, will always hold your hand.

As shall I, Always ...

I am so sorry for your loss. I honestly don't think there are words that can help at this point. Please know I'll be thinking of you, your family, and your dad.
I, too, have lost my dad, and if you ever need to talk to someone about the feelings, I'm here.
Hold Tallullah Mae. She'll dry your tears.

Sherri,
I am saddened by your news - not at all what I expected to see when I logged on to see your post. The poem you chose is beautiful and appropriate. Please know that you and your family are in my prayers.
Hugs, Nancy
