More Washington museum highlights...this is an illegal picture taken at the Textile Museum of something I love: tea towels! These were designed by Lucienne Day, a midcentury British textile designer (oh. so. fabulous!).
An amazing piece at the Renwick Gallery...Oracle, by Tim Tate (read about it here).
This face jug was at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
As were all of Elvis representations: this Elvis face jug is by Michael Crocker...
Not sure who made this Elvis portrait...
This was one of my favorite places: it's the Luce Foundation Center for American Art at the American Art Museum. It's basically a storage area for much of the museum's collection of items--you can push a button and out pops a drawer full of jewelry (all safely under Plexiglas, of course)...there are paintings and sculpture and folk art, too. So fun.
A necklace (wow!) on display...
A Victorian mourning brooch made of hair (sorry about the sideways picture--thanks, Blogger!).
Love these: miniature eye paintings...
Back to the Renwick: this is Ghost Clock, by Wendell Castle. It looks like a clock covered with a sheet, yes? In fact, it's all carved from wood...
And these three photos (above and below) are of Game Fish, by Larry Fuente.
