First up, just for the fabulous Miss JuJu: Jujubes! I've never seen these before (only the candy!)--apparently these are sometimes known as Chinese dates. (They're being displayed perfectly by Miss Robin of Various and Sunday.)
A magically floating basket of tiny gourds (oh Blogger--why does it sometimes insert photos sideways?)
Lovely intermingled squash.
A lobster mushroom collected in the wild. Fun fungus fact: technically not a mushroom at all, but rather a fungus that grows on mushrooms.
Basket full of deliciously aromatic mixed 'shrooms (one of these came home with me and was turned into a fantastically tasty pasta...yum!).

There's a fungus among us! So. How is it possible that a fungus growing on another fungus becomes a parasite??? I must research this one. Thanks for the pics and the... inspiration (?)
hugs!

Oh, I'm so excited to see my namesake!! I've made it. I'm famous!! My 15 minutes are here!!! :-) (thanks for thinking of me!)
I really want to get ahold of those mushrooms and the fungus that grows on em. YUM!!
chedgula:
I want to use those mushrooms, the fungus and some chedgula to make a yummy soup!
I was there, so I can attest to the dahlishousness of the market. But I gotta say: my hand looks fat. Ha. Good thing we didn't balance 'em on my butt!
